I supported the plight of the Bears until this afternoon.

This afternoon I witnessed the worst act of thuggery on a football field. Norths were playing Balmain Ryde in State Cup and a Balmain player had part of his ear bitten off. Not the lobe but the main section of his ear.

Add to this that the North Sydney coach and manager racially villified the same player when he came off later in the game.

All of the last exchange was in earshot of Florimo and he did nothing to reprimand the people representing his club.

Absolute disgrace of an organisation

strong words gronkathon. my understanding is that there was NO bite, the coaches were up in their box and greg florimo wasn't even on the ground!

Yes, he should pull them in line in front of everyone in the middle of a match. That's very professional.

Lets just wait and see what he actually does do later on yeah?

Is the NSWRL investigating the incident?

Apparently also there is the allegations of unsavory comments?

Are the NSW Police involved now?

How much is a bears membership worth?

20, 30, 40 & 50 for individual fans. 80, 120, 150 for families. 5000 for foundation membership. You get wrist band and stickers for all individual memberships and a shirt for all $30+. Also x4 merchandise for families. Foundation get a signed jersey from players and management once the team is running, special reserved seats at bluetongue and a few other things.

Bear in mind, the beautiful Central Coast

The Central Coast is a place for all fans. Not just Manly and not just the Bears. The CCBears is a bid to enter the NRL to both put a team on the Central Coast for its locals and re-igniting the passion for League by incorporating and re-connecting with the Bears supporters.

The initiative that Greg Florimo and his team have have set is an achievement in its own right.

In over three years under Greg’s watchful eyes, since John Singleton departed the bid, we have grown our status from being a bid to being a real contender for NRL entry.

The pros out weigh the cons.

The CCBEARS have gathered and signed on 28 individual sponsors: five majors, eleven local, and the rest are North Shore based.

The Bears, under NSDRLFC built and helped fund Bluetongue Stadium, and own stakes for another twelve years.

We have 2,500 paid members, with a steady increase weekly. At this rate, by February, will we have had more paid members then the Sharks, Roosters, Raiders, Panthers and probably Sea-Eagles.

That’s more money in the bank.

Our merchandise is selling well and there’s a vast amount of people wearing the CCBEARS gear to TV shows and to NRL games. This is people showing their support.

There is this huge misconception that because a bid is from NSW, then automatically it means no money or at least less money then what we could stream.

Firstly, as the article states North Sydney Bears were the 2nd most watched team on TV during the 90′s. Automatically that crushes any emphasis that the BEARS won’t contribute to the NRL or TV.

Secondly, if a bid has managed to get major sponsors, fans, facilities and corporate backing then surely “geographical” location means nothing. The hardest part of building a team is luring success on the back of gaining funds from sponsors, memberships and equity. The Central Coast BEARS bid has achieved this. The equity is building nicely and the active programs involving community work with juniors, coaches, schools and kids is already initiated and money has been pumped into those programs.

Thirdly, due to the CC being a heartland of Rugby League they will have many NRL viewers already. It is foolish to assume that Ipswich, Central QLD and South QLD don’t. All area’s mentioned have almost identical demographics when concerning Rugby League. One area would add the exact same number of viewers as another. There is no clear favorite in this regard. So butts on seats at games becomes ever more important. The Bears have always had good support and the fact that a stadium they helped build sits unattended is criminal. They will come close to max. out BlueTongue most weeks. The last South QLD franchise in Broncos heartland, the Crushers, had abysmal crowd numbers and even worse TV ratings (bar a few games). The Bears brand being a heritage team means a lot more then a Crushers clone.

Forth, bids need active initiative. You can’t write 2 or 3 articles about what you propose to do with your bid, sit on your laurels and actually not do anything but expect the best. Community ground work, mixing amongst the locals, collaborating with the local Rugby League body, junior clubs and schools is important as it branches out to future generations of supporters and eventually makes the bid/team a community commodity, a community club and a community business. You need to build your equity in case plan A) doesn’t work. You need corporate support from a mixture of public and private sectors, you need local businesses on board and you need to take the fight into the community and public daily to keep the idea in people’s head. Importantly last, a sustainable business plan that includes growth and consistent revenue streams which can maintain a club for 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 years.

Fifth, keep working. Don’t stop for a breather, don’t stop for a drink. Keep the hard work on going and disregard anyone’s opinion’s but the one’s that actually matters which is the NRL, the CC residents, the Bears fans, your own management, sponsors and the I.C.. Keep persevering, keep motivated and keep smiling. The Central Coast BEARS bid is well supported from many people who come from different avenues. The CCBears fans will fight for our right to have a team. We are a loyal bunch, we are a hard headed bunch and we are a persistent bunch. The Central Coast BEARS, 2013. The boxes are ticked. The money is there. The fans, community & population are here. The stadium is ready. The sponsors are on board. A postcode shouldn’t have bearing.

I’d hate to not get a job all because there’s already 10 people who live in the same suburb as me. So would you. It’s unfair, it’s unjust and it’s not the Australian way. The mighty CENTRAL COAST BEARS, 2013. You know it makes sense! Bear to dream, bear to win!

Arent you effectively conceding that the Central Coast.... doesn't really support any one team?

Isn't that bad for your argument for the CC Bears?

No. I'm conceding the truth. Which is there are obviously residents on the CC whom support other teams. Not just Manly or the BEARS bid. In saying that the article in which I replied to, bragged on about how the CC is Manly country, which is not true. In fact Manly or Newcastle have never spent much time, money or resources on the C.C.. While Norths have/did/do still. Which is obvious when you see Bluetongue Stadium and why the lower seats spell BEARS.

I'm a realist and I have to acknowledge that some local CC people don't necessarily support the BEARS bid but it's naive to assume they support Manly it that same token. My article after that line, goes on to state the facts of the bid thus far and what the CCBEARS bid means to CC locals and old BEARS supporters from yester-year.

I don't want to segregate CC residents who go for another team, in fact I want to try to at least make the CCBEARS their 2nd team. Which is common sense considering the bid is for the area they live in after all.

Hope that clears it up. :D

Is there any move to make the CC Centurions play every game at Gosford - especially before NRL games being held there?
I would rather see two leagues of 20 an NRL and NRL2 with two lower leagues QRC and NSWRLC each having 20 teams each also. This would allow the CC to have a team in NRL2 (the Centurions) that were a real CC team - also receiving players from Newcastle and in turn supplying players to Entrance in the NSWRLC.
It would also mean North Sydney Bears could play in NRL2 and both areas/clubs would be able to challenge for a NRL place in the future if promotion/relegation was deemed possible.

Two leagues is not going to happen, not any time soon anyway. Let's be realistic, not overly idealistic.

Sorry, what does the NSW Cup Norths biting incident have to do with the CC Bears? This is a NSWRL/NSB/SSRLFC issue...

yes but if they were to play in an NRL2 with all home games being held at Gosford they would begin and continue to develop as a real CC team.
