Um Hasler is 62 and retirement age is 65.

He has almost 20 years coaching experience. If he is appointed to any role at Dragons it would be crazy to not make mentoring and developing younger and less experienced staff part of his role description. A critical role for leaders in any organisation is to grow capability beneath them and weed out the duds.
Respectfully retirement age is irrelevant in rugby league. If he wanted to retire he would. Bennet is almost 80 and he’s still going around, Bellamy is in his 60s. It’s an older man’s game (coaching) not a younger one.

That is exactly how I see the Forum operate justa. Prior to me becoming a Forum member, I did read so many peoples points of view and was impressed with how people were expressing themselves with their posts. I do not begrudge anybody's thoughts or viewpoints as each one of us are individuals of which several are forthright and able to express things liberally, freely and making good sense and there are several others who can give their points of view the way that they see fit and just. All worth reading.

I decided to join because I wanted to express my thoughts on the threads that were created and it now provides me with something to read and be involved with because like all on this Forum, I am a devoted Dragons supporter no matter how things are going.

We are going through a period of negativity due to things that we have no control over and we realise that there are winners and losers in all sports and we have highs and lows and this Forum enables us all to release our emotions no matter how big or small and in whatever way it can be expressed.

Once the Club sorts out the coaching situation, we will all have a better picture of the future and we can continue to write stuff on the Forum and hopefully with much more positivity.
Totally agree Dave, I find the forum a good way to vent no matter what it is concerning the Dragons , I support when I think its worthwhile supporting a particular cause, and I vent my frustration when things seem impossible to achieve. As long as it doesnt get personal or derogatory I'm fine with all posts and reading peoples views, no matter what they are. IE Hook, I actually dont mind the guy as a person, but I will criticise him as our football coach, and thats all, I wish no ill harm to him or his family but his tenure at the Dragons I believe is up. We have gone nowhere, and the club needs to do something about that. Thats my view and I'm happy to write it.

Memo to our board: Rugby League is a game for Elite and there is limited number of talent available including players and coaches. usually you appoint a recruitement manager or a general manager and he decides who he will target (players or coach) and you go after them. Once head coach is appointed then the coach can work with those managers to go after players. Like Panthers or Bulldogs did or doing with Gus. RL is not "Education NSW" where you advertise for a teacher position (no disrespect to our teachers but that is the nature of the beast) and 500 people apply and you chose 3 to interview and eventually offer the job to the best candidate.

So please stop the notion that we have a coaching position for 2024 and everybody including Hook can apply. Decide whom you want and go after him. Treat Dragons as an elite sport team please.

The 2 outliers of 2013 and 2002 help an average. Hornby is 43
