Getting Brown in charge of recruitment will surely improve what they currently have now. Listening to Haran, his role is spread over way too many parts of the club so handing that over to someone else will surely help and Browny will fit the bill perfectly as he knows the joint well.
If we get Hasler we might end up with Scot Fulton as well , bonus.

For those not in JA forum, some interesting out of left field names for HC being bandied about. Some of which I would have no issue with as long as the correct admin is in place.

Names include Cheika and Wane as well as a few others.

If it were one of those 2 as long as we had say a GM of football eg: Hasler and recruitement eg Brown, I think we would be automatically 100% better than we are now.

credit to WTC for his post.

I was very impressed seeing ABC Australian Story on Michael Cheika last year.
He’s a real leader of men and seems to galvanise a team.
Surround him with decent assistants and he would be an incredible asset to build & promote a struggling club.

Worth a look behind this successful man….

The one comment I took out of this was he can get underperforming but well resourced teams to fire. We are underperforming but well and truly under resourced, thanks to the board who will change nothing.

Certainly seems the case at present, but hopefully with the COE underway things may finally change.
At this stage I’d accept any new coaching change, as long as he has the ability to motivate & galvanise a team.

This “must be unanimous” stuff bemuses me. I have always understood that to mean that you can disagree and vote against a motion within the board room but once something is passed everybody supports it outside the boardroom.
But they are talking as if one vote against will block any decision???
I'd say, over the past few seasons, most of the Dragons NRL players have played well within their capabilities. Just wait and see if a good coach like Hasler is given the job, players like De Belin, Lomax, Amone and others will demonstrate a much higher commitment and as a result, perform much better than they do now.

Don’t know much about him but correct me if I’m wrong. He has zero experience as a league coach? If so that’s the kind of idiotic decision our board is capable of making....
There’s pros and cons to the 3 best options out there - Flanagan, Hasler and then behind them, McGuire. But they’re the only 3 we should be considering unless Bellamy magically becomes available.

That’s fair enough and it would be a very left field appointment to consider Cheika. He does have RL coaching experience as Head Coach of the Lebanon RL team since 2020. He got them to the quarter final of the World Cup against all odds.
He was also Assistant Coach at the Roosters under Robinson in 2020. Apparently, they are good mates and both Multilingual.

Ok interesting to know that, thanks Coffs. Still a huge difference between coaching lower tier novelty World Cup games and week in, week out NRL coaching. The time to risk a left field appointment was when McGregor was moved on. Unfortunately now we’re in such a deep hole that I think we need a proven coach to fix the mess Griffin is going to leave us with……

Mate Cheika would be an exciting prospect. He’s a winner and highly intelligent. With a couple of good assistants he’d be a great option for SGI.
It would take some balls from the board but.

I agree Crush and they say these days a Head Coach is really a Man Manager with the assistants doing the actual attack/defence coaching.
Cheika was a very successful businessman and claimed he doesn’t coach for the money, he does it for the challenge for sportsmen to reach their potential.
The part about not doing it for the money might appeal to our tight arse board. LOL

not sure I’d go that way, but it wouldn’t upset me if they tried it.

My nephew is involved in hosting Corporate sportsman guest speaker events.
He once told me that Bellamy/ Bennett/ Cheika are Top Tier motivational speakers & you would walk hot coals for them.

He is a mad Sharks supporter & yet claimed Flanno was on his L plates on another page compared to the above 3.

These type of motivational speakers also attract Corporate Support & contacts through reputation & respect.
They aren’t asked to speak at lunches for pissed League fans, they speak & address Australian Olympic team members to motivate & unite.

Dragons need something to get out of the abyss.
