Seu Seu picked up after he was released from Newcastle.

Also got Blake Green as a backup for the halves and hooker.

Still leaves us fairly slim though.

They said alot of things in that article that were false. They also mention that his first grade debut was in 2007. Then they go on to say he scored 5 tries in 8 games. Souths had no choice but to release Buddy from his contract.

Norths picked up his contract when he was cut mid-season. He has always had a problem with attitude and will struggle again. Like he has done many times he will start off great but he is easily distracted.

The next Owen Craigie? I'll expect to read a story during next season's pre-season about how good he looks and his new found attitude.

The kid has the talent to be playing top grade for a number of years....time will tell.

Leeds Rhinos utility player Jordan Tansey has signed for the Sydney Roosters. 2 year deal.

Just to add to that

Tansey heading down under

Leeds Rhinos utility player Jordan Tansey is to join team-mate Gareth Ellis in Australia after agreeing a loan spell with Sydney Roosters.

The Super League Grand Finalists have released the 22-year-old from the 12 months left on his contract to enable him to spend the next two seasons with the Roosters before returning to Headingley Carnegie in 2011.

Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington explained: “We recognise that Jordan’s opportunities have been limited in his favoured positions of full-back or in the half-backs.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for him to go and play in the NRL and hopefully he will return in 2011 to put his experience to use with the Rhinos.”

Tansey, who is not expected to make the Rhinos squad for Saturday’s engage Super League Grand Final with St Helens, has started just 19 of the 52 games he has played with the club since making his debut in March 2006.

Ellis will play his final match for the defending champions at Old Trafford before taking up a three-year contract with Wests Tigers.

NRL clubs offer contracts to Canterbury players
By TONY SMITH - The Press | Thursday, 02 October 2008

Eight players from Canterbury's two National Junior Cup teams have been offered contracts or trials with NRL clubs.

The deals have been brokered by player-manager Frank Endacott and the former Kiwis coach said he had been inundated with approaches from NRL scouts about players from the Canterbury 18-year and 16-year teams.

The list is led by Canterbury 18s centre Slade Griffin with the West Coaster securing a three-year deal from the Melbourne Storm.

Halswell fullback Tyler Jarden has a two-year deal with the Cronulla Sharks and Sam Kelso has a one-season contract with the Parramatta Eels. The pair were key players in the Canterbury 18s team which contested last Sunday's NJC grand final.

Canterbury 16-years stand-off half Penani Manu will be with Cronulla for three years and scrum-half Jamie Nuttridge will trial for the Sharks.

Endacott said Canterbury 18s scrum-half Sean Scott and West Coast utility Ethan Negri have been offered trials at the Warriors. Negri, a wing in the Canterbury 18s, will probably trial at hooker, where Endacott believes he has a better future.

Canterbury 18s prop Phil Nati has left this week to join Parramatta's 10-day training camp on the Gold Coast. "They'll play three trial matches and if he impresses, he will be offered a contract with Parramatta," Endacott said. "But if he doesn't go there, I have a two-year contract offer for him from another club."

Endacott said NRL scouts had also been interested in Canterbury 16s loose forward Scott Clarkson, "but he damaged his shoulder in the first round" of the NJC championship.

The latest signings follow in the sprigmarks of Halswell hooker Matt McIlwrick, who went to the Canberra Raiders this year on a three-year deal, and Rulon Nutira, from Hornby, who is contracted to Parramatta.

Both are playing in their clubs' SG Ball (18-years) teams and Endacott said McIlwrick "won the player's player of the year award".

Former Canterbury Bulls backs Chippie Korostchuk and Darren Tonihi were placed with the North Queensland Cowboys this year through Aranui coach John Rangihuna's connections.

Endacott said NRL clubs had sent scouts to watch Canterbury's 16s and 18s this season because they now realised they needed to spread their New Zealand nets outside Auckland.

They also signed the hooker from Palm Beach High, cant remember his name though.

I dont recall it being on the list of signings though so it might be a bit of extra depth. Some backs would be useful.

The Canberra Raiders Toyota Cup team has had a timely boost ahead of Sunday's Grand Final against the Brisbane Broncos, with the announcement today that hooker Travis Waddell has extended his contract with the club until the end of 2011.

Waddell, 19, has been one of the stars of the Green Machines assault on the inaugural Toyota Cup in 2008, and his solid form has seen him earn a contract extension and a place at the Raiders for a further three seasons.

Originally from Proserpine in Northern Queensland, Waddell arrived in Canberra at the start of the 2008 season, and has gone on to stamp himself as the premier number nine at the Toyota Cup level.

He said the chance to remain with the Raiders is something he was excited about, and was keen to continue the success of the Toyota Cup team into 2009.
