By the way, if you want to know why McIvor has so much clout at SKY, just read John Dybvig's book, Microphones Up My Nose, it tells it like it is.
I really like McIvor as a presenter but i think he's going to be a sh*t commentator. They need to axe "Stray Tard" asap...
Absolutely - McIvor goes okay as a host, but a commentator needs to give me more knowledge and insight than he's capable of providing.
As for the Stray Goose, I prefer my commentators to be able to form sentences in English. But that's just me.
Oh ffs. There was a reason why i never watched any of the NZ Warriors home toyota cup games, and that is because McIvor is a useless commentator. Now he is going to do NRL level? f*ck me dead.
What was wrong with Cost? he had some great lines and was very knowledgeable about the game,

And I feel for Costo, sounds like he was handled badly. Real badly. And I've met him too, and he's a good bloke. Deserved to go, didn't deserve the manner.

Y'know, the more I think about it, the less I think Costigan was biased for/against any particular teams.
I remember being told by a Warriors fan that he was biased against the Warriors. That took me by surprise because I'd never noticed it. So the next time, I paid close attention, and if anything, he seemed to be biased in our favour. I always found it interesting that there were Warriors fans saying he was biased against the Warriors, but I also found fans of other teams saying he was biased against theirs.
But something perhaps worth noting is that when he was criticial of the Warriors, he was equal to - or, in most cases, less critical than - the very Warriors fans accusing him of bias. And yet when we played well, he waxed lyrical about us.
I dare say, that if it wasn't for the Australian accent, the accusations of bias would have drastically reduced in both quantity and volume.
So the facts that his criticisms were less than those of Warriors fans, that his criticisms weren't consistent, and that other fans felt he was biased against their team when they played the Warriors, has led me to a simple conclusion: rather than being anti-Warriors or pro-Warriors, I think he was just purely pro-league.
I know that sounds like a cliché, and perhaps it is, but I think it's a warranted call. He'd get particularly animated when a really impressively good or bad play was made, regardless of who did it. The guy really does appear to have been a league tragic who called it the way he saw it - complete with Australian accent and outrageous rhetoric.
I disagree, I thought he was appallingly biased against the Warriors (but then of course I openly admit to being Warriors biased), and the Kiwis as well. He would often go off into spiels of the family trees of opposition players yet seemed to know little of the Warriors...despite being aware of the fanbase he was commentating to. Strange.
His repetitous dialogue was ridiculous, the butt of many jokes (and drinking games, as mentioned previously). I found it ironic he took the piss out of Manu for so long after his horror run early in his career...yet Manu worked on his game and improved. Did Costo?;-)
I'm not knocking the guy as a person, but as a commentator-particularly a commentator specialising in the commentary for one specific fanbase- IMO he was shocking, repetitive, and seemed to know more about opposition players than Warriors ones...making the perception of bias look even worse.
Of Course, McNuggets will be a bit of a cheerleader, but as he's fronting for a Warriors fanbase, he'll get away with that a bit. After that, we'll see how he goes in the big time.
Dont agree with him Sam, he's a 1 eyed Cantab who hates anything/body north of Picton.
If met people of his ilk before you know....
A bloody mainlander
