I watch AFL as well as well so I don't care about the 'war', but I just could not believe Sportsbet were offering $2.05 on the NRL crowd being bigger.
The max bet was $200, and by the time I got on NRL had come in to $2.00, then $1.95 for my next bet, then $1.88 then betting was suspended.
Plus I reckon Sportsbet forgot that the maximum crowd for AFL is 73,000 anyway so if both sell out I win anyway. Haha.
Gibbsy on 2UE just gave a ticket update
50,500 sold for the Dogs v Rabbits
Almost 20k sold for the Storm
54,000 sold for the fumbleball at ANZ.
There'll be about 15,000 Collingwood fans travelling from Melbourne to watch. Would 15,000 Broncos fans ever travel down from Brisbane for a prelim? Hell no. In this code, because we build up the "tribalism" thing, some people will almost give you a dirty look at the idea of going to an away game. In the AFL a number of clubs have several thousand fans who go to away games regularly no matter where they are in the country.
That's an area the NRL could really see a growth in crowds if it is done right in the next few years. Really push the idea of going to away games.
Work out deals with hotels and airline companies where you could buy a weekend in another city, hotel/return flights/tickets with a single mouseclick. Ideally there'd be a website where you could enter in where you are, what game you want to see, what time you want to leave and come back and you'd get an automatic list with everyone you need to buy with one click. Make it easier and more convenient to watch your team in another part of the country and many more people would do it.
Most seem to also overlook the fact that the AFL tickets cost DOUBLE. Not 10% more, not 20%, DOUBLE. A comparison of income from each game would look very different. And then people wonder why there's not as much advertising for NRL games...With respect to ticket sale comparisons, most seem to be overlooking the fact that the AFL game is a day earlier than the NRL game...
If you mean stadium capacity when it's in the oval configuration. You're wrong.I watch AFL as well as well so I don't care about the 'war', but I just could not believe Sportsbet were offering $2.05 on the NRL crowd being bigger.

http://www.anzstadium.com.au/AboutUs/History.aspxFollowing the Games, an $80 million reconfiguration reduced the capacity to 83,500 (or 82,500 in oval mode).

Thanks Pete. I love Rugby League, but I've also got this other thing going on called a "life". It prevents me from travelling around the country to watch my team sometimes.

The NRL deserves a massive kick in the nuts if the Dogs v Bunnies does not go close to selling out the non Stadium members component of the tickets.
Lazy, cheap f**kers are the NRL when it comes to promoting the product.
90% of the origin 1 crowd were queenslanders.
no ...the fans of the 2 clubs do
seriously wot fan of the 2 doesn't know they're playing each other for a spot in the gf
& know when & where
if you need bling to entice you to go to this one you are not a fan at all ... :?

Rugby league is full of passive followers.
Sometimes an promotional kick can make a difference.
