The Tigers can’t wait for the next superstar in waiting 6 or 7 to come along. We have had Brooks on the books for too long now and at 26 he’s not even going to be the late bloomer.

Is Jackson Hastings going to be the saviour? He has just turned 25, played 60 games in the Super League since leaving Manly but who knows.

Canberra have done well with the UK recruitment, George Williams is nothing flash, he doesn’t have to be, he’s the perfect link between the forwards and the backs. Brooks has the forwards this year (once Garner gets the flick) so maybe!

I just had a look to see how Jackson Hastings was going but the comp has started yet. It doesn’t even look like he’s (as yet) listed as a preferred 6 or 7 as well.

Going through the teams and their respective 6’s & 7’s though, it was interesting to see some old Tigers.

Firstly looking at Luke Brooks, he turned 26 in December & played 149 games now

Catalans Dragons – Josh Drinkwater 28 years & played 112 games since leaving the Tigers I bet he’s learnt plenty playing with James Maloney.

Huddersfield – Aiden Seizer 29 years old now and just like Brooks, a bit iffy.

Hull – Josh Reynolds, dare I say, he would have been a better option than Brooks.

Leeds – Robert Lui (yep still going around, one of the better partnerships with Marshall that the Tigers had) he’s 31 now and played 128 games in the Super League since leaving the Cowboys.

Salford - Tui Lolohea, Tui is only 26 plenty of chances but couldn’t hold down 1 spot, better bench player than Mybe though IMO.

Wakefield – Jacob Miller only 28 played 184 games since leaving the Tigers – remember when he was going to be the next big thing for the Tigers? Sheens threw him into 1st grade as an 18 year old.

Warrington – Blake Austin 30 now.

Maybe a POM is the way to go but there's a number of former NRL players keeping a local out of their top team so perhaps the locals are not that good, who knows.

I'd say if we are to try an expat I'd have to say Jackson Hastings or Jacob Miller woudl eb the ones Im interested in.

Surely there’s gotta be a half that can play running around somewhere. Super league? Super rugby, at least you know they’d be able to kick.

At very least it has to be acknowledged, we have changed our backs, we have changed our forwards- both sets criticised in the past for not being able to support Brooks or take the pressure off him. Now all thats left is him- if he can yet organise and control the team around the park- and this surely has to be his last year left to make it happen, he never will. If he stands up and can do it GREAT, if he doesnt TIME TO GO TO PLAN B whatever and whoever that will be. The next halfback has to be our organiser and planner and be able to tactically kick alongside their 5/8 partner.

There would be and he is probably disillusioned that he cannot crack it for first grade because he is stuck behind others who are more vaunted...warranted or not.
Moneyball type recruitment is required.

So far this year when a bottom 8 team from last year has played a top four team from last year the closest a bottom 8 team has got is differential of 18 points, and that was us last week. All the games have been blow outs.
In years gone by there have always been upsets in the early rounds, but although early days there are worrying signs.

Very good article in today’s SMH by Malcom Knox on the salary cap and how dubious it is and how it disadvantages the weaker sides.

Anyway let’s hope we change the trend tomorrow

Ive joined team Stryker. We are f**ked and i can't ever see it changing .
The whole game is f**ked actually , as shit as we feel as supporters there would be 10 other clubs feeling the same way each year . The on field officiating, cap rules, the new 20/20 tag rugba rules , corrupt player managers ,kids only signing at dominant clubs etc means its always heading in a direction of the have's and have not.
Getting into the 8 is like winning the comp for clubs such as ours unfortunately lol

It’s a sad state of affairs...the game is aweful currently and having a team that is so thoroughly outclassed gives a bloke depression weekly.
That Roosters side was missing Friend, Cordner, Crichton, Radley, Verills and Smith. They comfortably pantsed our overly talked about squad. The weather saved us from something truly horrible I would say.

Mentioning the players they had out (plus 2 future stars in 2nd's) and considering the talent they were then able to still have playing truly somes up where the game is at :(

Was there really anything wrong with a good touch finder and a scrum, was part of good game management, knowing when to slow it down. Not that our half would know. Now they just fake injuries instead. Pass me that salt.

The whole left edge is defensively weak and the insistent attacking down that same edge, whilst abandoning Noffa's edge, is mind-boggling. Joey Leilua is a lazy, unmotivated trash bag who has no place in first place. Kepoa is way out of his depth and needs big defensive work. Mbye should've been moved on and I cannot wait until 2022 when he's gone.

A few years back if you picked the card in your tipping comp you were a genius, and a par score was about 5 out of eight. Now if you don’t get 7 your a dunce. The only hard ones are when the top sides play each other or the bottom sides play each other.

The NRL through years of rubbish management have now basically stuffed the game. The new rules and the imbalance in the distribution of talent between the teams is a massive turn off.

Don’t get me wrong Iam not making excuses for that lame effort on the weekend, but where are the upsets, where is the excitement we might actually roll a top team. After two rounds there are basically three teams that could win the comp and maybe two others if they got really really lucky.

The game will die quickly if there are about 10 teams making up the numbers every year, and I don’t buy for one minute the argument that it’s about the bottom teams trying to climb to the level of the top teams, because it is not a level playing field.

anyway enough of my rant..Peter V’s 2021 version of the game is a total turnoff

Yeah put me down for team Stryker. I'm f**king so over this club and the continued shit they roll out.

If Laurie sees out his 3 year contract I'll f**king blow myself on live TV

It really does seem like the teams with the rich benefactor are the ones killing it. I wish we had someone like that to throw a bit of coin at the joint, maybe sit on the board, help out with business contacts and the like, incentives to attract gun players. Anyone like that around?
