f**k this game!

staying away from the "slog" button, get yourself in and get to 20-30, thinking that you may go on to bigger and better things, get a ball speared into your pads so you clip it away with beautiful timing, in the air all the way down fine legs throat.

frustrating as f**k but its getting better everytime i play it, just gotta minimise the stupid dismissals

The good thing for me is when I get out it's 9 times out of 10 it wa a stupid shot selection that caused it. I do exactly the same as you, get comfortable in the 30's and do something stupid. Currently on a run of back to back 60's while edging slowly to another 50 in the third innings. Patience really is the key, even when you think your set still take the safer options.

Love how rewarding this game feels when you start getting some runs. Finally got the selection screen to say something other than "Long Way Off" as well. I'm now a "fair way off"all the county forms.

Every time in career mode I've been cautious and sensible in batting and I've thought "now I'm going to unleash" I've gotten out. Love that it punishes you for being reckless and that's just in the shield, I can't imagine how relentless it would be to play South Africa.

The game has it's issues but they're nowhere near as bad as RLL2 intercepts or props being as fast as backs etc. and cricket 14 is much more fun to play IMO. I really like this game, I haven't enjoyed a cricket game for a long, long time.

Yep, sums it up for me as wel TT. I usually get real bored of cricket games but I'm absolutely loving this one. Genuinely rewards play that you'd expect in the real world. I've found that blocking is essential as well as making sure you are very aware of the field settings.

Just hit my first century only to be out for 101 4 balls later. Crawled to 50, then managed to get to 80 before I knew it where it was back to a crawl to the last 20 runs.

no but if you're online it will prompt you to download the correct squads the very first time you boot the game

my squads could do with some tweaking as phil hughes opens the bowling for south australia

Those errors will be fixed in the 2nd patch. 1st fixes run out issues, makes fielding more realistic (not so many direct hits from 60m outfield) a few bugs and adds something above fielders heads so you don't slap a shot to a fielder you didn't see. Discussing lowering batting difficulty on pro career and making bowling slightly harder to balance it out. Which I reckon is essential. Struggled heaps for first week with batting allrounder in career. Taking between 3-6 wickets per game and rarely got to double digits. Started new one as batter only and now making 20-40 per innings. Loving the game

EA sports cricket used to always do that Brett Lee was on the cover yet Ponting bowled over him  . The main thing is actual players names atleast you can name your team accordingly.

Really getting the batting down now. Currently on 105 n.o after scoring a century in the previous game. Love how you manipulate the field settings by just hitting to space. It's like the AI captain has been programmed by Alistair Cook. I hit 1 4 through Mid wicket and the field gets changed next ball with no one down the ground which is just easy runs.

Sounds all well and good in theory but personally I can't stop hitting the ball in the air. A simple straight drive ends up as a caught and bowled 99% of the time. Started a 3 test series against SA last night, was coasting at 2 for 50, then lost Buck and Pup and was bowled out for 95.

I bowled them out for 198, they just went the tonk, and I'm now 2 for not much in the 2nd dig, and it's still the first day lol

Found this review

Don Bradman Cricket 14 may bear the name of the greatest batsman to ever play the game, but the finished product is designed to behave less like The Don and more like a certain modern day member of the Australian top order. It’s extremely capable and occasionally brilliant, but with a tendency to undo all of its hard work with the odd baffling error in judgement or apparent technical fault. In short, it’s the Shane Watson of cricket games

I can understand that review, but on the other hand, almost all cricket games on the market make batting piss easy and bowling boring as batshit and hard to get wickets.

This is the first decent game that improves bowling and makes batting tougher.

That in itself allows the game to be more realistic, more challenging and hence, more addictive.

It'll improve with the patches there working on as well. Apparently tones the fielding down and batting career mode will become slightly easier.

I'm having a decent crack at it so far. So not too many complaints apart from the occasional horeshit run out. Love how my batsmen pulled up short walking today despite me holding R2 down and pressing triangle for the dive. Wasn't even a direct hit and I was still run out.

I'm terrible at this game. How do I bowl straight or outside off as I'm only able to bowl down leg side?

You have to be fairly accurate with the right analogue stick, it isn't very forgiving at all. You will eventually get used to it though
