Dragons V Sharks Round 4

@jodragon40 makes a good point.

The peak body of the club needs people with the right mix of footy knowledge to perform. It can have people with other skills, but the core task is to win a premiership sooner rather than later.

It can’t know everything so it needs to appoint the right people in critical positions. This is what Brisbane did to lift it from the bottom and it’s come a long way in a few short years.

The board needs to verify and check that what it is being told is truthful by its experts.

I would hope the sgi board could lure some good front office staff from other clubs, people with a track record and it flows from there.

It needs the people with relationships that extend way beyond its own and everyone in it together.

Lots of bad things have happened ( you can’t underestimate the Albert fiasco).

If we are talking about culture, you can start by getting rid of Amone. Just because he can play, doesn’t make it right. He’s not right in the head.

But the nrl should support you and prohibit him from playing for anyone else. That won’t happen because it’s run by salespeople!

I did not watch the game (just saw the result) and I wonder why I took the foxtel subscription to see all my beloved Dragons games. As I predicted last week, the whole of 2023 is gone after what the board did last week. Cut the head (Griffin being tapped on the shoulders 3 weeks into the comp) and the whole body hit the ground. It is a safe bet that Dragons will end up with wooden spooners. One wonders if Hasler or Ryles will apply for coaching job after what happened 3 rounds into competition!

Anyway, If I were NRL management, I will call Dragons board and ask them what is going on. NRL owes it to the fans to ensure every team is competitive. Even kick Dragons out of the comp and let them try to get back in with a new fresh management. Remeber the old south Sydney. South recovered after old south was kicked out and spent few years in wilderness. All the bad apples left the joint. And then a professional management took over, brought them back in and the rest is history.

I read it not as "playing for Sattler" but just as a comparison between a man who played with such courage and passion as to stay on with a broken jaw versus a team of blokes who look like a dodgy haircut is a good enough reason to roll over.
Thanks GS you obviously understood where I was coming from..it had bugger all to do with "playing for Satts" and we have to do it for Satts" because thats total garbage and Im not that bloody stupid ....it was made in reference to the courage and passion he showed as a player with a shattered jaw for 70 mins and imo the lack of commitment shown by some of our blokes particularly in the second half today....and further I referred to Sattler (a Souths player ) and not one of ours because he had only died a few days ago and he would have been fresh in everyone ones mind.....to make the comparison and say we didnt do it for Lance Thompson or one of our Dragon players so why do it for Sattler or whoever is total nonsense....I've been following the Dragons for over 65 years now and to be honest it pisses me off when I get back negative comments especially when they are twisted and interpreted wrong ..people on here are entitled to their opinions and dont have to agree with everthing I say and I wouldnt want it any other way thats what healthy banter is all about ....anyhow as I said before I will be leaving it there and no further comment on this subject

A few things about today that i noticed-
So great to see a crowd of 15,000+ and a packed hill. Also so great to see a huge Dragons Army and the big jersey rolled out
NSW Cup again beaten and coming last-these are our future players?
Amone pretty average in that game-nothing to suggest he's ready for First Grade
Our team watch Cronulla off side all day, and holding us down every tackle, yet we cant do the same. They constantly rolled down the park watching us attempt to get back the 10 every time
Our team seemed to have no plans, while i watched Cronulla play the type of football we should be playing
Something horribly wrong with Lomax- his kicking is stuffed, and his defence just as bad. I hear NSW Cup calling
Some of the worst refereeing Ive ever seen- Sloan taken out during that catch should have been penalty to us, and McGuiness 10 mins in the bin
A team who didnt seem to know how to play or particularly cared. For Hunt to say this team is all good is obviously an outright lie
We need a new coach and now. Shattering to watch a St George -Ill team perform like that in front of such a big crowd. I noticed they wouldn't come off the field in a hurry either. I gave up waiting to abuse them and left

Perfect summary of the day.

Lomax is off in every way. Not really wanting to single a player out but he is probably in the top 3 overpaid/overrated players in the comp. He used to be able to kick goal at least.

If this is what we put up with a full strength team in a historic rivalry well I can only wince at the thought of how we go when the rest of the comp get going and we get injuries. Scary.

Refs still hate us.
The crowd did their part. Again, embarrassed.

Most of all, as you captured - "our team had no plan"

There are not sufficient words in the English vocabulary to describe how disappointing following this club is.

There is not much left to say.

What do you mean “a” new coach? You’ve publicly said it’s Young or nobody. Having second thoughts mate?
Why not say when Young takes over?
Don't read too much in to it, mate.

I said yesterday it would be Young unless the team made finals this year and still stand by that.

You have one quality player, he has no friends.

The big winger goes ok, we bashed him tonight, seemed a tactic.

Do you feed Jack Bird entire sheep?.

Well you did piss Woods off, one good thing happened.

I‘ve been frustrated all day after that performance.

I am normally upbeat and positive, but this was a problem. 1st half the effort was there, but they were Disjointed. Like they didn’t know what each other was doing. Only the fact that the sharkies were making so many errors did we look ok. In hindsight I think they played a different game plan to previous, but weren’t really sure about it.

2nd half they came out flat, just like against broncos, and suddenly the sharks turned it up a notch, and got the errors out. The disjointed attack and defence suddenly under pressure folded, and they lost belief and embarrassed themselves.

guys tried, and you could see the frustration they had. This feels like bad preparation by the coaching staff, and thus time to move and make changes.

new coach has the makings of a good team, we have seen this. But fitness needs improving, and they need to be on the same page and much much better drilled. Lots of guys off contract means we have a chance to improve as well.

The truth is too few of the team have pure athletic ability, compare Tyrell Mitchell against our lot - no comparison. There is far too much one out running, take Souths (not my favourite team), they spread the ball out wide a lot, giving the likes of Cook plenty of chances to score. Their approach to the game is miles different to the Dragons.
