Low confidence doesn't help. That's where having a strong motivating coach comes into play. Regardless I'd like to think we actually practice some set plays at training but it doesn't look like it because every time we have a shot at the line in our opponents 20 everyone is standing so flat footed and just waiting for something to happen but nothing ever does. It's not just tonight it's been like that all season.
On Luke Burt, as Pou Pou would say "he has the support from the people in charge and they have the runs on the board".........
They tried to drop Burt at the start of the year and you f**king idiots (Eels fans) threw a hissy fit.
This club runs on politics and they need to appease the fans. Imagine if Anderson had realised Mortimer wasn't up to it and let him go at the end of 2009. Imagine if they tried to drop Burt now he's announced his retirement.
I'm worried if we sack Kearney that they'll give Hindy a massive contract to go around for one more year because "He's the only one who knows how to tackle!!!!"
Sadly, we get the team we deserve.
The writing must be on the wall now. The players actually had a dig tonight. Problem was they had no set plays, and couldn't even read a simple attacking play of the opposition which they've used effectively before, and got caught out on it twice
That comes down to poor coaching. They should have been made aware of that play and what to do to shut it down but they weren't. Brian Smith and his whiteboard would have been handy at halftime tonight.
Dogs by 20.
Sure does, Imagine we sack a coach 12 months before his contract is due, payout that contract, hire a rookie coach and give him total control to appease the fans, politics rules

Jason Taylor wrote an article about why it's illegal - the play is undefendable, and if it's not stamped out, everyone will be doing it next year. Taylor's own words.
Knowing they're going to do it and stopping it are two different things. As Taylor said, the Bulldogs are killing every team with that play, not just us.

Motivational speeches don't work in first grade football, its not junior footy where a coach delivers a spray and the team lifts

they dont work for us anyway

Who said anything about motivational speeches or giving the team a spray? They just need someone to motivate them by the aura the coach holds and can get them firing and actually wanting to play for them and perform well. Something Kearney lacks.
They tried their asses off tonight and add last week at 40-0 down they still kept coming.
But its a simple fact they don't have the team to match the big guns. Bennett/Hasler or Bellamy couldn't change that. The forward pack and bench is well below NRL standard.
Kearney doesn't look to be the answer as it seems he can't recruit big names to the club but the fact some like yourself seem to blame him for everything including the team bus getting every red light a game.
so the only thing wrong with your half arsed theory is that SK plays Burt at fullback - as opposed to Sio who he preferred at fullback at the beginning of the year ... why?
surely if SK is just playing him for political reasons he'll be stuffing him on the wing ... why is he putting him at fullback?
