Election 2012 PDRLFC

This really is a farce. If the only potential problem is/was that EGJ had mistakenly thought he was 'financial ' when he wasn't, and people voted for him anyway, it's hardly the greatest democratic tragedy in history (and it now appears that he may in fact have been financial). Sure, rules have to be followed and if a new election is necessary so be it, but some people seem to be suggesting that this is some great travesty of justice.....but FFS, if it turns out that he wasn't financial, it would hardly suggest skulduggery...and would hardly be a reason for other candidates to think they've been ripped off. Is it any wonder we are sometimes perceived as the laughing stock of the NRL?

Have you done the maths on how much $20 x 20000 is? It's 400k.
How much does the Leagues Club give to the NRL team at the moment and how much does it cost to process a $20 membership plus give everyone a $30 cap?
Also I couldn't care less what EGJ tweeted and I hope he is right and our members don't have to go to the polls again, but I still want to know why he wasn't on the list that ALL the candidates were given.

am i missing the point???

$20 * 20000 ??? .... i don't think memberships cost $20 .... can people still pay a cheap membership? ... blue blood is $75

lets say 10000 of them are STH at roughly $200 average ticket .... $2,000,000
and 8000 blue bloods at $75 .... $600,000
and 2000 sparkies or whatever at $30 .... $60,000

of course, i think 20,000 is a long way off

When I first joined the PDRLFC it cost me $20, and I remember that I had to get 2 people to co-sign and that's the only way I could get signed up.

The new administration, the 3P administration changed it when the NRL started to call the Season tickets members, and then all ticketed members have the right to vote.

I remember asking about the $20 fee and was told it was included in my season ticket, but i guess those who never had a season ticket paid the $20.00 who were already a member prior to the changes.

So basically they did give the NRL side back to its members, and they have given the members a voice after all.

As for Jnr, he has been a paying member, do you really think that they would be that stupid?

$25 from each membership goes to the coffers of the Footy club. The rest goes to the NRL club. It used to be $20 when Stagger, Hellsy, Jess, Nikki and I started with the membership drive in 2005 or so.

When I first joined the PDRLFC it cost me $20, and I remember that I had to get 2 people to co-sign and that's the only way I could get signed up.

The new administration, the 3P administration changed it when the NRL started to call the Season tickets members, and then all ticketed members have the right to vote.

Yep, all memberships except sparkies, went up $25 to compensate and put money into the FC coffers.

The combinations of the memberships made it way cheaper for me.

So basically they did give the NRL side back to its members, and they have given the members a voice after all.

That would be correct if the Football clubs purview was the NRL side, but it is not as has been roundly discussed here and was mentioned by the Chairman at the AGM.

As for Jnr, he has been a paying member, do you really think that they would be that stupid?

I don't put anything past anyone at our club any more.

Gee there is a lot of animosity between here and nospam46. How come ? Don't we support the same team ? It's been this was since they became www.nospam.com IMHO. The banning of links has created an "us vs them" mentality.

Agree. Some people carrying on here about what gets posted on other sites must have too much time on their hands. We're all Parra fans etc...

The club is offering 1year dual memberships (both Leagues Club and Football Club) for $20.

so do they actually mean a Blue Blood membership when they say "non-ticketed membership"? - you'd think so - but then why do they then explicitly say you get a cap (and not the other parts of the blue blood)

I don't thinks so, I think you get memberships to both clubs and a cap and that's it. Still great value.

This should be on going and not have a december 25th deadline.

Yeah I'd rather pay 20 dollars for a membership which includes a cap, than pay 75 bucks for the same plus a bunch of crap in a 'Blue Blood' pack that's just going to end up in the bin.

Above board: Grothe cleared to tackle new role

The NRL has confirmed to Parramatta that successful Parra 4 Ever candidate Eric Grothe jnr is a financial member of the football club, ensuring Saturday's board election results stand.
The rebel ParraFirst ticket, which managed to gain only one seat with the election of Steve Sharp to the Parramatta District Rugby League Club board, had raised concerns that Grothe is not a ''financial'' member and was not entitled to stand. However, a check of records conducted by the NRL - which holds membership records in its database - has revealed that he is officially registered. ''The NRL has confirmed that Eric Grothe jnr is a member,'' a Parramatta source said.
Under the current membership structure, it's possible for people to purchase multiple memberships. It has emerged that Eric Grothe snr, a fellow board member, purchased several memberships and registered his son under one of them.
Grothe jnr's eligibility has also been approved by the returning officer, scuppering suggestions the elections will need to be restaged.

All the incumbent directors, with the exception of Mario Libertini, on the Parra 4 Ever ticket (previously known as 3P) retained their seats.
Sharp is the only change to a board comprised of chairman Roy Spagnolo, Sid Kelly, Grothe jnr, Grothe snr and Robert Sassen.
Three PDRL board members will automatically earn seats on the Parramatta Leagues Club board, which controls the football club. The Leagues Club elections will be held in April.
