7,247 at Bristol. Great crowd for a non-RL area and 2 unfancied and unsupported teams. Well done Bristol.

It can't be overstated what a great attendance that is. Fantastic effort by the Bristol council on their promotion of this game. As a comparison the game in 2000 at Gloucester had a couple of thousand watching.

Hopefully the next time a World Cup is played in Australia, the organisers take note and play some of the smaller matches in regional areas. If a match is only going to draw about 10k then play it in an area that has a ground just big enough to accomodate that size crowd. Places like Wagga or Mackay would be filled and look great on TV, not to mention the economic benefits of increasing regional tourism

The bidding system seems to be the way to go. With such or such town financially implicated they are much more inclined to get off their asses and get people to the game. So, estimate the demand for a match, list the towns with the corresponding facilities and then auction the game off to the highest bidder.

7,247 is an immense crowd, that was the first professional match in Bristol for over 100 years. Amazing effort.

That ground Parramatta played the Gold Coast earlier this year was very nice.

The organisers seem to have got it spot on in regards to ticket prices and ground selection. I just can't believe it, it's so unlike rugby league to be so well organised.

Agree 100%. I hope that if Australia do win the next one (which seems a foregone conclusion) they take note and make an effort to better spread the games around.

Plenty of regional centres that would make great options. Coffs, Tamworth etc too. It's just a matter of getting the teams and TV crews etc to the grounds. Australia is a tad harder to get around than GB.

If the 2017WC does expand to 16 teams (i.e. about 31 matches in the tournament), it will be much more difficult to play matches in more regional areas in Australia if the cup is shared between Australia and New Zealand. If Australia was hosting all 31 matches, I'm all for the idea of playing many more matches in regional/country areas, but I shared bid with NZ will mean maybe only 15 or 16 matches in Australia, meaning that the ARL will be pushing for those games to be played at NRL venues.

With the Final going to attract a huge crowd in the 65-73k range, the Big Hit at Wembley going to challenge the world record crowd of 73k, looking to potential Quarter-Final matchups and respective crowds is somewhat interesting.

1st QF (B1 vs C1) at Headingley: NZ 99% will finish B1. If Tonga finish C1, the match will almost certainly sell-out and should be one hell of an atmosphere if the NZ/Samoa match was anything to go by. Dunno what the crowd will be if Italy or Scotland finish C1. NZ vs Tonga will provide the best atmosphere of the lot. Tonga came agonisingly close to producing one of the biggest upsets an eliminating NZ from the group stages of the '95 WC

2nd QF (A1 vs D1) at Wrexham: Australia 99% will finish A1. USA are favourites to finish D1. Dunno what the crowd will be at Wrexham.

3rd QF (A2 vs B3) at Wigan: England 99% will finish B2 and the match, being held in RL heartland and them being the host nation, will sell-out no problems regardless of whether it's against France, PNG or Samoa.

4th QF (B2 vs A3) at Warrington: Fiji 99% will finish A3. Best crowd and atmosphere will be if Samoa or PNG finishes B2. However, you would think France are favourites to finish B2.

So, the 2nd and moreso, the 4th QF crowds are the ones that'd be of more concern

In the meanwhile, of all the group matches, really hope sales for the Ireland/Australia match pick up. Otherwise it will look embarrassing on tv.

Outstanding result. Arguably the two weakest teams in the comp in a totally non RL area, that is very impressive work by the people marketing this game.

Hope fully they might deem Perth worthy of a game or two this time around. Any game featuring Eng, NZ, PNG, Tonga, or Samoa is likely to draw 20,000 to nib.

Crowds are great but with tickets for the England v Ireland match going for 2 pounds fifty it shouldn't be hard to fill grounds

This tournament has been an amazing success so far . The crowds, the atmosphere, the tightness of the games and the general buzz around each clash..

All we need now is one of the big 3 to be upset in the pool games. Just to shut up the haters.
