We wait. It was encouraging that the press were talking about a 1 year deal with the ARU. That suggests that QC is serious about leaving the darkside or at least very good at poker.

Should he sign for 1 year then I hope that he signs with us immediately for 2012 as I fear that his price might be beyond us after the world cup.

He is not coming. End of story. After everything that has transpired it is pretty self evident now. As we all suspected, we have been used as leverage. If it was not about the money but for a real desire to play league then why would they be waiting to see what the ARU can come up with and tease yourself when a whopping new offer comes your way only to have to reject it.

Why wouldn't you make one announcement and tell ALL Yawnion mates/players and officials that you appreciate they efforts and thoughts on this issue, but you need to think about this on your own so that YOU can make the most important decision of your career and not with a million voices in your head. Instead he has allowed every man and his dog get to him and by all accounts he is constantly telling everyone that he would love to stay if basically the Yawnion can stump up to the mark.

Well I think the Yawnion will eventually stump up, and he will stay and tell everyone with a huge smile on his face that it was a very hard decision and that it was, oh so close and probably the hardest decision of his young life thus far and he didn't know till the very end which way he would be going, but now that the decision has been made, feels that it is the right one for him and that he is looking forward with great enthusiasm to next year and the World Cup and that he has many goals still left to achieve in Rugby before he might ever leave to another sport. Yadda yadda, yadda...

Well on a brighter note, at least Yawnion can now claim they have a celebrity, albeit one made through a connection to Parra and Rugby League. Oh hold on, wait a minute...Ummm.

They may say that his manager is young and not too experienced, but really what a freakin genius.

Then why didnt he use the million dollar French rugby union offer to get the ARU's offer up? And i have been hearing that Quades management actually contacted us...

It's simple really....his Manager realises that nothing would get up the ARU's back as much as their superstar 5/8 moving to the NRL. Greater leverage on offer than a potential move to France IMHO.

And at any rate, Cooper has plenty of time to go to France and earn the big bucks.

I think that he will play NRL one day but I would be very surprised if he joins next year. You guys need to remember that even though he does rate League, he has been playing Rugby for a lot longer and the lure of a World Cup for Rugby players is the equivalent of playing SOO for League players. If Cooper was to leave - a year out from a World Cup, after being so heavily supported through his off-field dramas this year by the ARU and QRU - he would burn some serious bridges.

If his move to the NRL subsequently failed, he would find that he might not be welcomed back with open arms.

It is definitely gutsy of him not signing anything before the South African tour as the Springboks are machines over there and they have some massive units - backrowers are all over 6'5" and 110kgs+.

Oone of which runs 100m in 10.8 secs - Pierre Spies....he would be great at NRL - check this clip out.....he is a beast http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sp7Tb5eKfHM

If QC gets injured or has a couple of shockers then all of a sudden his bargaining power is gone. But he has every chance of ripping it up which would mean the opposite.

Interesting times ahead and obviously still some uncertainty. I reckon it is 70/30 in favour of Rugby....particularly given he is rooming with Will Genia and going overseas on tour for 2 weeks.)

Still not sure Ram...but if this does eventuate, welcome to the club. Now you know how Rugby fans have felt like with the likes of Gasnier, Anasta and a couple of others. Johns to a lesser extent as I think he would have signed had the ARU not refused to top up his offer.

And he was a celebrity before this - sure he might have a few more people in NSW and QLD more aware of him now, but in Rugby he was starting to develop a huge following and many see him as the heir apparent to Dan Carter in terms of the World's best 5/8.

A few, are you kidding? The more this goes on the more he will become a house hold name to anyone that follows league and sport in general. That my friend is in the millions. When they think of the Wallabies they will think of his name first, you can take that to the bank. Yawnion ain't got that kind of pulling power in Oz.

I was being a bit facetious....of course his profile in Australia will lift as a result of this circus. I was just replying to your assertion that prior to this he wasn't a celebrity. Just because RL supporters in NSW and QLD were not aware of him does not mean he is not a celebrity.

He does happen to be pretty well known in other parts of the world.

you finished year 10 then did you?

nice one.

to be fair, i never anticipated receiving a lesson on punctuation on here.

bravo.

p.s. apologies in advance for not using capital letters.......

I never anticipated being linked to a close up of a blokes muscle while he lifts weights, seemed off topic.

IMO he's not coming. He has an interest in playing NRL imo but he wants to do the right thing for now and stick by the ARU and QRU.

I doubt they'll win the World Cup anyway, but hey - more power to them.

fair point.

it does come across a bit gay with the weights and pointing to the sky.

if you managed to sit through the first 30 secs you would have actually seen he is a pretty damaging runner of the ball.
