Fifa 12

7, I'm rubbish, highest I've been is Div 6. My main problem is slacking off when ahead trying to defend a 1 goal lead and just stupid mistakes. I show glimpses of brilliance at times but I'm just not consistent enough.

Despite all that I still love the game.

I got up to div 2 before I discovered ultimate team, now I don't play any other mode. So addictive.

Can you explain Ultimate team? How does it work and is there a whole new online comp for it? :S

Radman im not sure lol maybe we can play a friendly sometime. Probably in a few days because the ps3 can't be connected online atm. Hmm I do fake pass alot, short passes, isolate defenders, lob through ball?

I'm so sick of the random freezing with this game. If I play three games, it's bound to freeze and force me to quit to the ps3 menu. It usually freezes right after a game, when it's returning to the menu.

I know someone else has this problem, what was the workaround?

Sorry for taking so long I haven't checked this thread in ages.

Ultimate Team is basically manager mode + head to head mode + the stock market all combined. You buy player cards and build teams with them, then you can play games either online or offline in individual match-ups or in tournaments.

The more coins you make (through buying/selling, buying card packs (with in-game coins or XBL points) or just by playing games, the better players you can buy. Plus you can buy other things like uniforms, logos, managers etc.

A lot of good players are quite cheap (you can pick up Robinho for 2.5k coins, or roughly the amount you'd make from 4 games played with your team) but every week a team of IF (in-form) player cards are released based on how players have played IRL in that week. They give fairly significant attribute boosts to the players so their value is a lot higher.

Example: this is non-in form Ben Arfa vs SIF (second in form card i.e second attribute boost) Ben Arfa

The first one is worth 1.5k, the second one is worth 180k because of the attribute boosts he has.

In my player mode how can you get transferred midseason? Is it possible or do you have to wait till end of season for offers to come in?

Hey guys,

I'm obviously very late to this party but I'm picking up Fifa 12 today, I've played a little bit of it and can't wait to get into it.

What game modes do you recommend? All this talk about Division 7, 1, etc. Is that based on your performances online? So do you just play online and as your record improves your Division gets harder?

Also, I have a mate who is playing at the moment, is it possible to start an online league where just he and I play against the computer and then we may face off during the league season? If not what other good options are there?

Thanks heaps

Ab I really enjoy the my player modes. It's realistic and exciting to have contract offers at seasons end and trying to stay fit etc

I started off with Brisbane Roar and was top goal scorer we won the comp and I got offered a spot on the starting 11 at Chelsea so I took it but we arnt going great and I'm injured a bit. So I'm falling out of favour.

So is that like Superstar mode in Madden/NBA?

ABpanther.

Division 1,2,3 etc is in online leagues. You start at div 10, play 12 games iirc then you get promoted/relegated/remain based on your points like a real league system.

Personally I can only play manager mode. It's up to you, try the different modes. I hate be a pro but others here love it.

Only has been shitting me too much lately.

I get disconnected from the server so often it's probably contributed to 30-40 losses of mine now, and it makes it hard to reach division 1..

I own it on PS3 and 360, I find my 360 online connection flawless (rarely cuts out, game quality pretty much like playing offline), but PS3 has all sorts of issues.

I love Manager mode, but it takes up quite a bit of time.

Alright so I just got this and have been playing it the last couple of days, really enjoying it.

I've played a bit of Fifa before so I'm not terrible, I'm playing on Pro-level at the moment as Semi-Pro is too easy.

I would like some tips on playing against Pro and also other people.

I find that I'm pretty good in attack, however I don't have any patience, I tend to get the ball and immediately want to head up field, do a couple of 1-2s and then look for the through ball. As a result whenever I play I tend to have less than 40% possession. To those who are playing at a high level, is it essential that I have to slow it all down, hold onto possession and take it easy?

Also, what's the best way you find to open defenses up? I tend to find it easier to open up a defense on the counter, once I slow the game down the middle of the field gets congested and it becomes very difficult. Do you guys tend to rely on 1-2s, individual brilliance (moves, turns, etc) or crosses?

Also, in defense, what's the best option? I found on pro I try to just hold the contain button and stick with them, but then they just hold onto the ball forever and eventually do some sort of turn and get one on one with the keeper.

Some tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

When you get to Pro level and above, slow down the play and find opportunities. Don't be hesitant to pass backwards to your defenders if there's nothing on, or switch flanks with a cross if you see more space there. Counter attacking helps a lot as well, especially in those grinding and low scoring games. 1-2s work well when they are timed right and you're in a good position, but the AI are generally pretty good at stopping 1-2s if you use them all the time. I also think you need to be decent at dribbling to break up there defence, otherwise it can be difficult to get opportunities. You don't really need skill moves for this if you don't feel comfortable with it - the left stick works fine, to be honest.

As for defence, make sure to press B for the second man contain, too. Use A and B sometimes if you want to put heaps of pressure on them, but otherwise, it's better to have a player you control that can close down gaps for passes and through balls while holding B. Also, when you're really close to a player and they're near, or in your in-goal, you must stop stop pressing contain and steer towards him, otherwise he'll get around you if he's good enough.

I only use it to tap the ball ahead when in space, i find it doesn't really work against the computer.

Do you have much success scoring off crosses?

Use the spin skill (whatever that's called) it's useful to get past your opponent and sometimes even squeeze between 2 defenders when the opportunity and timing is right.

I'm also a big fan of the lobbed through ball (R1 and triangle I think (havn't played for a while lol)) .. it's fun to give a small lobbed through ball to a striker already in a box then L2 and shoot for a bicycle kick/skill volley.
