We brought in sniffer Sailor - He was a success
Truth be told troops are thin for the taking out there.
Melbourne experience and motivated to do well.
Yep. - Still I rise.

We need depth. We are only a injury from being thon as litmus paper
Sloan doesn’t appear until late in the first half of the season. (Not that he can play / should be a Olympic sprinter )
Scott would be a good get.
insert arguments here…..
Nope...

We're a "development club".
Where are all the juniors from our huge nursery? I remembers years ago a certain media personality said "props fall out of trees in the Illawarra".
We should technically only be signing depth players anyway while upgrading our talented juniors.

Oh that's right, other clubs identify our talent and snap them up before we do. Really hoping our KOE cup side is getting groomed for 1st grade because we won't be getting any current marquee NRL players anytime soon.

I think it is apparent there will not be any "major" signings for next season as we have waited too long to become active in the player market. Any improvement next year will come from better coaching and conditioning and perhaps from some our of junior talent performing above expectations.

It's hopeless. It's practically the same players as last year with the same defensive frailties, the same lack of footy smarts, and the same disgruntled captain. Next season seems to hinge on whether Young Flanno goes better than Sullivan or Amone as 5/8, and whether Old Flanno & Dean Young can get more out of the players than Hook or Ryan Carr could. I'm not holding my breath.

I have a feeling Flanno's son will surprise, this is his chance he won't get a better opportunity to show he is really a first grade player .......... Time will tell ..........

This is the biggest problem for me ( same disgruntled captain ) Should have been stripped of the Captaincy , to start with ......... I can see it all unfolding , after a few loses the sooking will start again ......... We cant move forward until he is gone ....... That just my take on it .........

I am expecting young Flanno to have a great season. Just like Meaney, Dallin Watene-Zalezniak, Remis Smith and Montoya. Dogs are great at releasing players that become permanent first graders for other clubs yet cannot crack a spot in their club. I also feel Averillo and Alomoti will have good seasons at their new clubs. I also think Finucan started at the Dogs and they let him go as well.

Fatala-Mariner is a strange one. He was club captain and did what a club captain would do and address players concerns with the coach as you would. The players approached him, not him going off at Ciraldo about his coaching. Sounds like they want him out because of his injuries and looking for a way to get him out, as the club must have thought highly of the guy previously especially for his attitude having him as captain and re-signing each time his contract was up in the past considering he has had so many injuries. The Dogs are ruthless and I cannot understand why players run to that club, no loyalty and quick to drop you if you have a bad game or 2 and a serious injury.

I remember from memory Saints tried to sign him and threw a lot of cash his way only to turn them down and stay at the dogs for less. Maybe burnt his bridges with Saints the way that negotiation was handled.

KFlan is one of the positives for next season.. at worst he will be an excellent influence at training and a cheap & serviceable cog & 6, 7 or 9 as needed.. at best he may well end up a future captain.. but tbh until we get those AFB type forward signings, I dont think anyone is going to look like a superstar.

Our challenge is all that cap money we can't use.. we already banked money in 2023 (we couldn't attract talent due to the hook, ryles saga), so we have money we have to spend.. and I still think we will get Tracey.. but we are probably going to be relying on a fast start in 2024, and if we show some promise.. maybe we will try to get some of those disgruntled players on an immediate release.. there will be plenty stuck in reserve grade cause their rich club just stockpiles talent.

2 away games to start with in QLD, we might be on the back foot before we know it, anyway here's hoping we can show some better away resilience. We didnt win 1 away game this year and if we do the same to start next year you can bet the knives will be out early.

Windowlickers everywhere - complaining about recruitment for next year with no basic understanding of NRL recruitment windows or how NRL recruitment works.
The time to get players for season 2024 was November last year when we had Hook and Haran and all of that shit on board.
To pull players for 2024 means delicate negotiation to get clubs to break deals with players or get blokes who are not contracted and they are not players in high demand. We can recruit now for season 2025 and i have no doubt we are doing that ... but i also think we are doing that ALSO with an eye on early releases.

The decision to extend Hook when we had flano waiting there last year f**ked us for 2024.

One positive is with Dan Lawson calling the shots the lazy blokes should be far fitter than last season. Whether that translates to points we will have to wait and see.

In Lawson/Grey/Flano our recruitment is actually superior to most clubs. Dont expect tards like Moley to recognise that though.

Those three have already had an impact if you look at photos of Bird/Turner.

Some impressive plays. Good vision with the long floaters to an unmarked man which I have also seen Amone do. I'd rephrase that @Illusion to BETTER THAN HUNT. Play your boy at half Flanagan and stop mollycoddling the most despised player at our club.
