Exactly. Spot on.

The key to growing attendances, obviously coupled with better scheduling and pricing, is having stadiums in locations that is accessible to the most amount of people.

Having stadiums in outer suburbs is only beneficial to those living in that suburb or those adjacent to.

It’s a discussion that has been going around for decades and any decision by the government might shake people into the realisation that it is impractical (and counterproductive to those clubs and expanding their supporter base) to expect that each of them have a world class facility.

Penrith and Manly will get decent enough facilities. If the city can get three 30 to 40k plus stadiums (I would follow the planning of the three CBD’s and eventually have one at Bradfield/Liverpool) then that is a very good result. The remaining 7 clubs should have their games at those three venues
Have a look at soccer in England to show how this is wrong

afl is one of the few sports in the world that has done it

and it’s something rugby league shouldn’t follow

Difference is soccer clubs can afford to build their own state of the art stadiums, they arent relying on a govt funding half a dozen of them in one city.

And how long home from Central?

You simply won't get people wanting to go home around midnight for such things
depends where you live! there’s probably a million people plus who live within a 30minute train journey of parramatta train station.

But yeh I agree having a third of games finishing at 10pm is dumb.

The Bradfield/Liverpool idea won't come to fruition, not after building a state of the art stadium in Penrith, purely coz this new area of Bradfield is close enough to penrith, and there's really no team/club in Sydney in any code that represents Liverpool, Macarthur Bulls are campbelltown, Tigers are based in concord regardless of who they represent and bulldogs are Bankstown, which both NRL teams are closer to homebush (Accor) than any other of the larger stadiums, had the tigers, picked up and built their COE in liverpool then yeah slim chance that that they'd get some traction there, but they're not, and having Liechardt and campbelltown as home grounds will always stunt them as getting their own purpose built stadium...

The distance from Penrith to the proposed Bradfield airport is 20 mins by car, from Liverpool its 25 mins, and Parramatta its 35 mins, its a fair way south west fareway of the clubs or fanbases in sydney, like i said if there's no one representing the area then theres no point in a new stadium there, not when Homebush and Commbank are closer to the tigers and bulldogs

Even then it's only the relative top handful of most successful soccer clubs (and other sports teams) in the world, and the odd one that used to be a powerhouse, that own their own stadiums. Outside of that relatively tiny minority, 'groundshare' is common and increasingly becoming the norm in both publicly and privately owned stadiums across the world.

Furthermore, shared centralised stadia is cheaper and more effective in pretty much every way, and on average it produces significantly better results for tenants than the alternatives.

NSW should have to bid for it but no one is giving Stadiums for it, and Accor holds 30k more then Suncorp

Say the government agree on new stadiums

Then the incoming Government scraps the deal anyway, Same outcome
Say anything , no one knows what labor would do & from their reaction to all of this ive seen yesterday , they'd honour they deal.

Bulldogs already own the land at Liverpool and it's well positioned. Whether anything further happens I don't know. But honestly it would really tap into that area well and the Tigers aren't servicing it. THough I'd suspect the Tigers would take a few games to that stadium if built.

Is that land big enough for a 20k minimum sized stadium, and enough space around it to build a parking lot, aswell as other things like restaurants, pubs whatever else would warrant a brand new stadium, coz if its just the stadium then its a waste of time, the whole reason, you want this to happen is not only to get the stadium with full time tennants, but to have it as a area to for the community aswell after the matches are on, otherwise just fix up Belmore and either Liechardt/Campbelltown proper

THings that have previously been proposed for the site. Way better location than Panthers new ground.

THe site is very large. Walking distance to the train station.

That is a massive mind set change that is needed. People often go on about Melbourne AFL clubs all being inner city, but Carlton dont just draw their 100k members from the 30k people who live in Carlton! That's where clubs like the Dragons could be smart, in similar way to Souths have done. Work on the brand and appeal across the city. Moving to a centralised venue certainly helps move that mindset. Its good to see Roosters taking over the lower NS area as another example. Crazy that we say NS is starved of NRL when there is a club and state of the art stadium just 8km away!
The irony is you say Souths have done well centralising but everyone wants them to go back to the SFS. Over the 16 years I’ve been going to Stadium Australia, most of the Souths fans I speak to are not from South Sydney.
We’ve got people driving in from MacArthur/Narellan, Canberra, from and over the Blue Mountains, South Coast, Central Coast and Hunter. Despite the gripes, it’s been a good home ground. I know a lot of folks though who are worried about a move back to the SFS and this is where scheduling will hurt. I’d prefer to stay at Stadium Australia or Commbank if truth be told.

Dogs fans are the same. If we got a stadium at Liverpool, I think it would be good to move. Otherwise Stadium Australia is better than Bankwest for the fans. It's pretty easy to get to and from.

Labor have said in the past they are against the spend.

More strikes tomorrow, to fix that you need to pay more. Maybe this changes down the track
