That may be true but you cant expect them to move somewhere that doesn't have an adequate venue. What if moving all games there doesn't eventuate in a new stadium? Surely the better response would be to work with the soccer club and put forward a proposal that they would move most games there IF the stadium is rebuilt. We've seen the flip flopping of funding for stadiums in the last decade, I wouldn't be going their on a 'hope' that it encouraged a redevelopment!Like jim said, it's chicken or the egg. If the Tigers play as "few as possible" at Campbelltown, then funding for that venue would be a little bit harder forthcoming.
And as a club, throughout their entire existence since the Western Suburbs Magpies and Balmain Tigers merged, they've had too many home grounds. This year, the Tigers allocation of home games were:
Commbank (4)- Storm, Souths, Panthers, Dragons
Leichhardt (3)- Eels, Raiders, Bulldogs
Campbelltown (3)- Warriors, Sea Eagles, Knights.
Suncorp (1)- Cowboys
Tamworth (1)- Sharks
So yeah, only 3 games at Campbelltown this year, while at Commbank, it had the bigger drawing matches. The Tigers used 5 home grounds. The Tigers are spreading themselves too thin.
If there is some sort of disconnect between themselves and Campbelltown, then it's no surprise. There is a lack of presence in the south west corridor, an area the Tigers should be focusing more, not negligenting.
From an outsider looking in, the Wests Tigers look like a club without an identity both on and off the field. By the end of this season, they will get the wooden spoon.
If the Tigers want to rise, not only does it need to get the recruitment and coaching right, but also using the right home grounds with fairer allocation of matches.
IMO, Wests Tigers future is the south west corridor- Campbelltown. They should embrace the area, not negligent it.
I suspect their corporate supporter base isn't down there either hence why they stay closer to the city for majority of games.
