TBF problems with health services isn't a funding issue for the most part, same is true of education.

Throwing more money at them will do little to nothing, you need to address the underlying societal issues if you want to even start addressing the major issues in the health and education systems. But this isn't the place to discuss this.
True, but if it came down to a choice between "Build a new wing on the Hospital to accommodate demand & reduce waiting list times" versus "put all of that money into a run-down suburban ground to bring it up to first grade standard when there's a number of great-to-ok stadiums ALREADY in the city", well... you know what I'd vote for.

That’s the point. Why build new brand new unnecessary stadiums when you have primary health care in disrepair? This applies everywhere. I take the Great Danes point as well but the strain on health care professionals is getting ridiculous. You have to shape your priorities to immediate need at times.

Exactly - funding to make Leichardt a solid community ground, great for NSW Cup & community sports/events - and maybe one NRL trial per year- is one thing, but sinking more (probably *much more*) than that to bring it up to NRL First Grade standard for a handful of games each year - at best - is folly.

Considering that a new wing on the hospital wouldn't have a significant impact on demand or waiting times because there's a shortage of doctors, specialists, and nurses as it is (and that's just one issue that needs to be addressed with the health system), I'd vote for option C; don't waste money on either a superfluous stadium or a new hospital wing lol.

We don't disagree though, I'm just trying to keep the discussion grounded.

This

eventually without funding they'll be OH&S issues for patrons & be condemned & closed
Jane try stand at Brookie is said to have concrete cancer people were saying it would get condemned

other than Penrith the only ground that needs a major upgrade in Sydney is brookvale. Manly have no other options. They are the only club north of the bridge to Newcastle so they are important

saints should commit ten games to a redeveloped gong and the tigers ten games to a redeveloped Campbelltown

both teams other Sydney games can be at allianz vs the roosters and souths

Even after the redevelopment, there is still a hill. How can Wests Tigers compete against teams who have all seater stadiums in the form of Suncorp, Qld Country Bank, Allianz, Commbank, Cbus or AAMI?

Wests Tigers are still trying to accommodate the old home grounds of Balmain Tigers and Western Suburbs Magpies. What the Tigers should be doing is looking for a permanent full time home ground at an area like Liverpool.

It wasn't that long ago the NRL were looking towards having their own stadium at Liverpool or Rossmore, which would be close to the new Western Sydney Airport. The NRL approached the Tigers and Bulldogs about the prospect of Liverpool.

But since then, the NRL is only thinking about Las Vegas. It is speculated the NRL could put in $200 million into Las Vegas.

You know, that $200 million could've gone a long way towards a new stadium at Liverpool for the Wests Tigers.

A couple years back I did a charity ride to your fair city starting from Leumeah.

Was surprised how close the stadium was to the station.

For shits and giggles I booted up a dating app in the Budget IBIS up the road from the station.

Was not prepared for the profile of thirty year old Shazza with her six children and four grand children.

To be fair I didn't deserve her at her best.

Hahahaha...

Thank you for the massive belly laugh mate. You made my mid morning coffee break so much better. Cheers

Yeh I realize that .
but he was using the 10k as a negative ….that fans were voting with their feet to stay away .
It’s not the case with Redcliffe.
he knows that but can’t help himself using anything to put RL down .

So what you are saying is that the Dolphin management are stupid for playing at a 10K stadium when they could be playing at a stadium that has a capacity of over 50K where they could get at least around 20K or more instead.

Well they obviously don't need the money or fans then.

The point though is, it never is about that. It's all about politics and if we go all the way up to the true root of the problem it is the world Ponzi banking system that we are all part of. They will never be enough of anything let alone money while we keep that in place.

Easy solution if we wanted to fix it though.

I don't understand. Is the NRL going to spend $200m over 4 years playing a game or two or even a round once a year in Las Vegas?

Wow if true. I think they are kidding themselves if they think that they will get a return on that investment. I know they are hoping to get a slice of the gambling pie from over there, but, seeing that the time difference places most NRL games being played in the wee hours of the morning and the majority of gamblers wanting to watch live sport, I don't think that they are going to get the response they are thinking they will.

I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. Most degenerate gamblers are implosive and erratic. They want things happening before their eyes, to get that instant adrenalin high or low they are seeking. Placing a bet and then going to sleep and hopefully waking up to a pleasant result just does not work for them in the same way. Generally that is the sort of thing investors do, not gamblers.

Anyway, I hope I'm totally wrong and we can bankrupt a few million Americans a year in perpetuity. Our game deserves it. Fu*k those privileged Sepos!

For mine this is a News Corp beat up from the lowly reporters, and TV pundits who are looking at this from a working sporting junket, all the way up the ladder to the investors that will make money off of the NRL's back. Of course the US Stakeholders were blown away. $$$ signs were flashing before their eyes.

Unless they get concert promoters on board then it is just losing money

If there was a new stadium at Liverpool, presumably housing the Tigers & Bulldogs, and Souths go to the new SFS then that leaves a huge white elephant in the Olympic precinct getting little-to-no use, which would probably come cap-in-hand to the Government for upgrades to attract teams back.

So the question then becomes "why not simply re-furb Accor Stadium to a decent rectangular layout?"

The answer to that is simple, because it’s huge, needs extensive remodelling and the necessary rebuild would cost a shit-tonne

The more pressing question I would have is "why didn't Accor Stadium get redeveloped into a rectangular layout straight after the Olympic Games?"

If Accor was to become a white elephant in the future, then past and present state governments only have themselves to blame.
