He’s an idiot, he’s a moron... Why? Have you ever heard him coach? He has an amazing footballing brain.

Andrew Johns is no brain surgeon, does anyone question his Footballing knowledge?

No I haven't been with him in the sheds. I haven't seen the pryamids either but I'm 99% sure they're in Egypt.

Great footballers don't always make great coaches. Look no further than Brett Kenny.

Love Freddy, but he has a lot to prove as a coach.

So you have no actual reason for your comment. We aren’t talking about Brett Kenny or the Pyramids... we are talking about Brad Fittlers knowledge of football.

I know plenty of people that have heard him talk about the game. I’ve been to a “Coaches” coaching clinich at which he spoke to us for about 3hrs on how attacking structures have changed over the last 10 years. He knows his stuff.

I was perhaps too cute here.

The point is, you don't have to be in the sheds to judge him as a coach. You don't have to meet him personally either.

My comments are based on his results as a coach. And being a great footballer does not make you a great coach.

Brett Kenny for example. One of the greatest players ever, but a notoriously poor coach. We still won the under 20s comp thankfully.

I've also attended coaching clinics. Most notably one with the immortal Matthew Elliott. Can say I left quite unimpressed.

Off to the game now. Will continue this later, we haven't even got our trousers off yet.

Brandy didn't hold back on Fox - saying that he thought Thurston looked like one of those players who has gone on one year too long.

Loved the reaction - it was as if he had carried out his promise to drop his pants to show the premiership winning tattoo he had done after a night on the cans in late September '91.

Oh Right.. So, based on his coaching, he’s an idiot.

Ok.

I loved it too.

The commentary on Fox is generally a bit ‘NRL politically correct’ where the sort of thing Brandy said yesterday is off limits, so the rest of the panel were stunned.

I haven’t met or spent any time with Fitler in person where I could assess his intelligence, so I really have no idea whether he is smart on not. His public persona definitely doesn’t paint him as a smart guy, but perhaps as some have said that is all for show.

That said, as coach of the Origin team, query whether he needs the same attributes as other successful coaches of NRL clubs.

I’d think what he needs to be able to do above all else is to get a bunch of guys from different clubs (some with massive egos) all playing cohesively together in a short space of time. He might be well suited to that. He is a respected figure in the game so even the biggest ego in the team should still listen to him. He would presumably be good at team building and promoting bonding between the players (although hopefully doesn’t cross the line too much into being one of the boys).

Well on this point he did a very good job during the world cup so I'd say he meets this requirement.

I'm feeling really overmatched right now.

Is overmatched a word?

Anywho, you called him and idiot, I said he’s not, he’s actually very intelligent, so you decided to change your point and say he’s a bad coach.

I lost interest.

Fair summary.

Perhaps I should still be savouring the win but my mind is turning to next week already. I watched a decent patch of the Titans game today and they were pretty good. They certainly have a potent attack, even if their defence is a bit doubtful.

I see next week as being another risky game for us. Titans are only one win on the table behind us. Their pack is surprisingly tough. Jai Arrow has been an excellent signing for them. Ryan James is also in good form, as is Jarrod Wallace. Cartwright put in a very good performance for them today as well.

We will have expended a lot of juice today, and even with a seven day turn around it is going to take a lot to be up for it next week. I hope we flog them but I am nervous that this next game is one we will lose.

The surface today was shocking at ANZ. All the chunks out of certainly didn't help attack Edwards fell over 3 times running it back. We won today with 45% possession if it is 50/50 share we win. You'd think the likes of Edwards couldn't play that bad 2 weeks in arow. We are better at home

I agree. A number of posts have referred to the Titans being a walk over next week. Yet they've won their last couple and scored 5 tries in each of those games.

Also a few old boys that would have had this game circled. It'll be a tough game.

Scans have revealed Waqa Blake suffered a high grade syndesmosis injury in the win against Parramatta on Sunday.

The Panthers centre suffered the right ankle injury after being tackled late in the second half of the game at ANZ Stadium.

Blake will be sidelined for at least four weeks and will meet with a specialist to determine if surgery and a longer recovery period is required.

Blake's replacement at centre will be revealed on Tuesday when Panthers coach Anthony Griffin names his side to face Gold Coast Titans.

Every few games he seems to get injured. He would be a weapon with a full season uninterupted
