My thoughts exactly.

This is why we can't have nice things.

On 100% footy when discussing the Warriors. Gus has some interesting things to say about Kearney. Said the head coach can't do it all but oversees the team. So whoever is doing their tactics etc is a credit to the coach for doing getting the right people in.

Probably what we do behind the scenes more then just Griffin.

Also Gallen said about Blair he has played for good clubs. His training habits etc are where someone like that is valuable... That is what we did with Tamou

It was just a joke. Though I do worry about our depth.
Hard not to... our depth was destroyed to the point of almost being non existent this year in our backs.

Sam Mckendry
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
Waqa Blake
Nathan Cleary
Tim Browne
Tyrone May

That's pretty much injuries that remove any choice in team selection. Of our top 29, 6 NRL experienced players injured. A couple of depth guys injured. We're pretty much down to 20 or 21 fit players to select from. Possibly less if I have forgotten an injured player.

Throw in players who were only in the top 29 due to the new cap forcing them up. This weeks team is basically already picked for the coach. We might need an exemption just to name 21 players. Or decide to name an injured player like May or Blake.

Thankfully we should have a decent top 17 still. But we really cant lose anyone else. Especially in our backs.

I am not a fan of moving a 'mobile' backrower who 'used to play in the centres (sometimes)' into that position. They tend to get found out with their lacking lateral movement (compared to legit backs) and also their lower initial burst speed. We already have a slow backline as it is with Blake gone, no need to make it worse!

I'd rather move Peachey there but at this stage still wouldn't want to risk introducing Laui. I prefer Katoa on the bench. If we have an injury anywhere in the backs we can reshuffle with Wallace into the halves and Katoa into Hooker. If not we still have a handy forward.

Katoa has played 5/8th before if needed. Katoa/Egan sharing hooker would be good. The only reason I could see to move a backrower would be to defend against Hurrell

Isaiah Yeo probably has better lateral movement than Dean Whare and as much speed over 50, he can do the job for sure I just prefer him in his current spot.

Our backrow is our strength ATM so I'd rather CHN if any backrower moves. We don't have 21 fit players ATM so I we will name someone injured probably to hopefully be cleared later in the week

Yeah I can see why they would go that way I just think of all our backrowers Yeo is the most suited to playing centre, whether that's the best move for the team makeup is another question. Id just go with the peach either way.

Spot on. CHN is just as fast and has good lateral defence as well. He played in the backs in 20's in a number of positions. That said, it makes more sense though to put Peachey there and bring in Luai. We will need to score more points against the Titans if we want to win, so we will need a bit more oomph in attack and Peachey won't give us that. With Taylor, Elgey and Cartwright running around they will ask a lot more questions of our defence than Parramatta. Our new found defensive strength will help, but they will score points against us and we have to score more than a single try if we are to win this.

First time I saw CHN in NYC Barrett had him playing FB. He was only 17 and even then they said hes destined for the forwards but athletically hes still mobile enough to cover the centres.

1. Edwards
2. Mansour
3. Peachey
4. Whare
5. Crichton

Backline picks itself now. For the halves we weigh up whether Luai or Egan/Katoa is better to promote:

6. Wallace / Luai
7. Maloney
9. Katoa / Egan / Wallace

Wallace means Katoa comes in. I think that's my preference. Egan and Katoa can share hooking duties. Titans should be a good game to give them a good run.

If they don’t give Luai a run this week, they never will. The Gold Coast pack, minus Ryan James is a good one for him to face first up.

Pull the trigger Hook! Give the kid a go!

Its also the better pack to unleash Egan for more than a cameo. Regardless we should be better in the spine than with Peach at 6.

In the past under Griffin guys like Cleary and May have been named on an extended bench a couple weeks before actually debuting, hopefully this is the case with Luai.

Yeah I agree. I actually think we should have put Egan on last week. I don’t recall Wal running from dummy half at all. I reckon Egan could have been really dangerous especially in the last ten when the Eels were out of interchanges.

Me too. Perfect time to debut Luai. Even if only off the bench with Wallace 5/8th. Home against a bottom 4 team perfect really

We haven't had a junior come in and look hopeless. So that side of things we do well they'd have a plan for when to use him
