Crap I forgot how many there was. I'd still wager it's moylan
Obviously when we have former players from years ago changing clubs also it opens the numbers up a bit.

Most realistically its a 2017 Panther if the rumours true. But yhere are a few others who check the boxes

What is up with peoples memories of Waterhouse? Early on he was an offensive weapon, very quick for a huge bloke, broke tackles, ran great lines, had a very good offload.

Post 05/06 his offense was tempered but he was a super defensive lock then 2nd rower - virtually nothing got through on his side. He was the type of player that made 40 tackles a game and barely missed any - his cover was excellent and his tackles were often dominant. Even though his role had changed and he slowed down - he was still well above average in terms of offensive capability.

Even in his so called 'lean' years (such as in late 08 or was it 09? recovering from devastating injury) he was a level or two above what Yeo is now. ATM Yeo is a good forward but he is essentially a Waterhouse 'Lite'.

so we've beaten a rooster beating rabbitohs

Was thinking the same thing. Souths have a really tough pack. They pushed the Dragons all the way last week, and they dominated the Roosters tonight - the scoreboard really flatters the Roosters. They were split up the middle so many times I lost count.

Puts our victory against them in context. They had Sam Burgess when we played them (although were without Adam Reynolds). Our pack got on top of theirs but it took 60 minutes.

I should add - they are also the only team so far not to lose the week after we played them (my own little theory about us belting the hell out of other sides to the point where they still aren’t 100% the following week).

Roosters have really been shit though.

They have a top 4 roster. But they play like a bottom 4 side.

We could really belt the Roosters with our top 17 fit and available. Not sure how our depleted 17 would go.

Roosters f**ked up in keeping Friend. He has quickly turned to shit.

He had a few good years as an elite.. Once he was paid an elite wage he fell away

House left us so he was shit. He had a poor final season for us. But he was a gun for us for quiet some time.

We held onto the likes of Wesser. Priddis. House. Puletua. Rooney etc. For a season too long. But they were all great for us for a decent period of time.

Positional changes added a bit of life though.

There was a story before the season about Latu needing to give up Pringles. He is over weight so is dropped.

Wouldn't be a reserve grader. I'd say a Sydney club given the DT had a similar rumour

All the pre-season favorites are playing shit so far.

Cowboys. Storm and Roosters. Not one of them is playing like a top 4 side and barring a huge form reversal will be fringe top 8 sides.

Storm are the biggest surprise though. Nothing ever seemed to affect them the past decade. Bellamy is in for a real tough go of it when Smith leaves.

Also reinforces in my mind why all of the Storm's premierships after 1999 are tainted. If the Storm didn't cheat the cap so significantly, they would never have been able to keep Slater, Smith and Cronk together.

Keeping them together - all excellent players who were able to then play with each other for the best part of a decade - was the key to their success. Case in point, look what happens when they take Cronk out of the side and have a new kid as their half back.

This! This! 100% this. The Storm have tainted the last decade of footy in a manner that's unforgivable.

I'm not surprised the Cows and Storm look weaker either. Had both making the bottom half of the 8 and going out early. Storm's halves combo is weak, while the Cows 2017 was overrated because they had such a good September. Roosters are more of a surprise but will click at some point imo. Biggest surprises for me are the Eels and Warriors tbh.

Very early days, still plenty of time for those teams to get going.

In regards to Souths, i thought they played really decent football the first 40 against us. Held their line & scored when they got the opportunity. I think the 14 - 0 was more an indication of them playing well rather than us playing terribly, or it was at least a combination. They look a better side then i thought they would.
