GI to the Broncos

Ashton was being touted as a pretty good acquisition for the Broncs at the time, and Lagi Setu was an up and coming star. Doubt they would have been offered peanuts.

PJ was on pretty decent coin too.

Left out Joel Clinton from the list, and he had a big contract.

Gallop's little salary cap world is working just great.

have you seen how many players we've lost, and ARE losing? now lets combine that with the fact that izzy announced mid year, when most clubs have already spent most of their cap money. Leaving Brisbane in the unique position of having a bit of a 'war chest'. Combine that with the losses of guys like pj marsh, gorrell, and so on, is it really that hard to believe we don't have money under the cap. If Folau stayed, Broncos don't have the money. Full stop. He left, so we do. Deal with it.

You're just moaning because the only real place GI wanted to go was Brisbane because his gf works there, and playing alongside one of the greats of the game that many of the posters on this board have criticised something shocking over the last couple of years.

plus 2 years brings us to the end of 2012 starting 2013 with new tv rights. Should be more than enough money for a decent increase in the cap and ability to keep Inglis for as long as we want.

/pokes tongue cheekily and awaits 'immature' remark.

oops. so many players its been hard to keep track of. its funny.

one minute we're a sinking ship all the players are trying to get out of, the next minute we're the team who gets whoever they want. which one is it?

I wonder what his GF does for a job, whether she's getting paid market rates and whether her new employer has some connection with the Broncos?

Fantastic signing and a brilliant replacement for Izzy.

Don't know why anybody is questioning the Broncos on this. If you saw our losses in the past two years you'd understand.

The advantage that big one city teams have is the sponsors coming intact with marquee payments, how brisbane keeps their 2011 side under the cap I've no clue.

Nevertheless brisbane is going to have a hell of a backline next season if they can all remain fit.

Isn't Lockyer our allocated veteran salary as well? We only have to declare 50% of his salary.

Lol at Lockyer being on anything under 450k.
What's this rubbish about Brisbane losing so many players so they must be under the cap. The Storm did the same thing but still way over the cap.

Lockyer - Marquee
Thaiday - Marquee
Hodges - Marquee
Inglis - Marquee

Wallace
Hannant
Parker

Pretty impressive. Now how the he'll did they afford their 2006+2007 squad?

Don't bother reading the thread, especially the players the Broncos have shed recently, which should more than account for Hannant and Inglis (our only signings) as well as the upgrades to our young kids.

Let's not forget that Tronc, Hoffman, Yow Yeh, Kemp, Glenn, Gillett, Dodds, McGuire, Hunt, McCullough, Norman, Copley, Gagai and a few other kids will be on "peanuts".

I love Broncos accounting.

Players come or stay for "peanuts"

Until they leave, then they WERE on "big bucks"

Fair enough.

Steve Michaels would have opened up a bit of space in the cap, eh?
