If Gidley is fit than Young will be the hooker. It fits Stickys game plan from what I saw in C Vs C

I'm a huge fan of Dean Young, but there is no way he should ever be playing hooker in SOO, except for occasional fillins off the bench. And to be honest I don't think he should even be on the bench.

I'll have another crack:

1) Hayne - nsw best player in origin last 2 years
2) Gordon - does more for a side than morris who is just a finisher
3) Idris - I dont like it much but he will be there so put him in centres
4) Gasnier - Exact same as above
5) Uate - surprised Ferguson didnt get more of a chance but Uate is soo good on attack

6) Soward - same as Uate - all out attack can win us this series
7) Pearce - will be a steadying influence on other debutants around him, cool head

8) Mannah - this guy is a rock, high workrate and speed to burn for a prop
9) Farah - hooker is the problem I think, if robbie is instructed to play like cam smith & not overplay his hand then he can do the best job - ennis gives away too many penalties/remember last year
10) Snowden - still not overly convinced but he got picked for aus, needs more speed & workrate
11) TLL - hindy wont be picked + lewis has been injured need an aggressive giant, go with TLL as second row (3rd prop) for sheer size - can then pick creative guys for 12 and 13
12) Stewart - guy can ball play and is basically error free - no need for gallen as 3 props are there
13) Bird - same as Stewart + Bird has a great origin record

14) Gidley - comes on as dummyhalf at 50 minute mark
15) Dwyer - impact - has a knack for scoring tries, runs great lines
16) Tolman - reliable / error free, can play big
minutes while the other props interchange
17) Heighington - bolter / wouldnt go wrong

unlucky not to be considered by most - James Maloney - this guy gets overlooked because he plays for the warriors but if another half or two went down he and Mullen are next in line.??

Gallen is awarded the man of the match in the test v NZ, a team packed with QLD origin stars and we are not going to need him? People need to watch what this bloke does when he plays. He was an absolute standout for Aus the other night. Stands out when playing with and against the best. Don't bother having Origin if Gallen can't get a start because it would be a no contest as the NSW team would be unbeatable if we can find 17 players better than Paul Gallen.

I don't understand how Bird is an automatic selection in so many peoples teams.

His form for the Titans has been pretty average and he is not the ball runner he once was. Seems more interested in milking penalties and play making than the grind of forwards work.

Personally my side would be

1. Hayne (Incumbancy and just not sold on Dugans durability. Pretty close call though)
2. Gordon
3. Gasnier
4. Jennings
5. Uate

6. Mullen
7. Pearce (Sowards injury clouds the issue as I would have run Mullen & Soward but wait and see when he comes back)

8. Snowden
9. Farah
10. Tolman
11. Heighington (High workrate, willing to do the ugly work)
12. Watmough
13. Gallen

14. Hinchcliffe (Can play hooker, backrow or centre) Gidley will get the role when fit
15. Creagh or Idris (Strictly as an impact line running back rower
16. TLL
17. Galloway

Are you sure you're not describing powderpuff Hayne there mate? Just sub Parra for Titans and delete the word forwards and that's got to be him.

I think people need to watch games with the commentary off, it makes it easier to judge.

.

I agree with this. Someone grabs the commentators attention and they proceed to mention them about 56 times in 5 minutes. Then theres about 56 stories about them in the daily telegraph the next 3 days and so everyone pencils them in for origin.

On the 25th May Queensland will start their journey to their 6th straight State of Origin Series win. I believe it is possible for the NSW Blues to hit back. I have compiled a side which I think will collect a series for the New South Welshmen after years of dominates from the Maroons. Below is the team I want to be picked for Game 1:
1. Josh Dugan (Canberra Raiders)
2. Brett Morris (St. George Illawarra Dragons)
3. Josh Morris (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs)
4. Mark Gasiner (St. George Illawarra Dragons)
5. Akuila Uate (Newcastle Knights)
6. Jamie Soward (St. George Illawarra Dragons)
7. Mitchell Pearce (Sydney Roosters)
8. Michael Weyman (St. George Illawarra Dragons)
9. Robbie Farah (c) (Wests Tigers)
10. Keith Galloway (Wests Tigers)
11. Ben Creagh (St. George Illawarra Dragons)
12. Paul Gallen (Cronulla Sharks)
13. Chris Heighington (Wests Tigers)
Interchange
14. Dean Young (St. George Illawarra Dragons)
15. Tim Mannah (Parramatta Eels)
16. Tom Learoyd-Lahrs (Canberra Raiders)
17. Luke Lewis (Penrith Panthers)

Hey for those who do not know.

"The Dugan" is out. Has a calf injury that will prevent him being selected.

QLD will score 30948 points down the Morris brothers' side... None of them should get near a rep jersey this year again.

I think Weyman is down the pecking order as well. That's just my opinoin though.

Heighington? PLEASE...

What is wrong with Heighington. He would not let anyone down.

then a back 3 of 1. Hayne 2. Gordon 5. Uate makes the most sense to me. Morris will, of course, get the nod over Gordon though.

LOL as if your Morris call wasn't geniused enough, you say Heighington shouldn't be there? The bloke has been outstanding for years now and should definitely be there

A lot may depend on Soward though surely? If he doesn't play, they'll need a sharp shooter like Gordo

a fair point that i hadn't considered... which is funny because Gordon was the kicker in the team i named like... a day or 2 ago. lol.

it's no slight on Morris, he's a great finisher... but i don't think he's in our top 2... maybe even top 3 most potent back lines.

Heighington definitely would not let anyone down, and he does the dirty, tough work that nobody tends to notice. However for mine he is too one-dimensional, and doesn't tend to have much of an impact in attack as he should.

Then again, considering some of the geniuss they have picked over the past few years he deserved a spot a long time ago.

Yeah for real hey I've actually never put him forward in threads like this but Heighington legit deserves his chance. He is an old school, tough player with a decent bag of trick and more heart than any other player NSW could possibly choose. He needs his shot imo.

Agree entirely. Although the bolded is why he also isn't in my team.
