So they wont re-sign him in march if he isnt up to scratch? Grow a pair, and learn from the mistake. Put a coaching director in to be responsible for the coach's performance and stop signing coach's to contracts that are weighted in their favour. No performance should = a chance to remove them.

I think its important to recognise just who is responsible for the wreck.

If Hages put cetain proceedures in place and the boacrd deems that they didnt work ie : Fitness, morale, positional changes etc then Hages should take the wrap for it. but
If Hages has done everything that he could and the players just didnt listen or the trainers didnt do their jobs then sack them.
If losing Ben Smith is the best excuse that Hages can come up with I think that someone should hand him his sword.

Daniel Anderson has now finished his duties at St Helens. I suspect he wouldn't be ready to start anywhere for the start of the 2009 season.

I wouldn't mind in the slightest if he has a deal for 2010 onwards, and an agreement to wait in the wings to come in during 2009 if/when Hagan can be notified that he doesn't have an extension.

Paying Anderson a small retainer (the cost of the recent cuts to club backroom staff) to be in charge of recruitment/retention negotiations during 2009, should get players motivated to perform since they didn't bother for Hagan - this achieves the ultimate aim during 2009 even if Hagan stays head coach in name for the final year of the contract.

My info is also that Daniel Anderson knocked back the Panthers job specifically because he wants to be the head coach at Parra. He has always wanted the job and now knows he is in a position for it.
I reckon he is a certainly for head coach in 2010. 2009 - who knows

i can tell you first hand Anderson never knocked back penrith because as yet he has not been offered the role.Penrith stayed with elliot simply because they could not afford to pay him out and sign a new coach

According to the other sunday paper though, the so-called march deadline was contractually stipulated. So it's not like the board has taken any real action?

In any case, the smith debacle has surely taught us starting the season with a vote of no-confidence in the coach can be highly counter-productive.

Do it now; he's clearly gone. An off season can't save him. Stop him from re-signing Finch for ten years.

You may be right - I can only write what I am told through various sources.
They still say that Anderson will not sign anywhere else other than Parra.

So a Tid bit of info from the Wenty Presentation.

Alan Overton got up to speak, in doing so praised the coach Rip Taylor and said, its good that we have you next year, we might even see you with an eels shirt on again.

I think all this talk about monitoring Hagan is all white wash. When did Parra management ever taken a good discussion? They know how fans feel about the team. They are just selling garbage and we are buying it. Until and unless they are is radical change in our club nothing will ever change. I do not believe Hagan is incompetence. He is just getting used to the team without Andrew Jones. That is quite natural. The question we should ask is, why did the management choose Hagan at first place, why not Bellamy or Benette. These kinds of talks tell great deal about our management. Our management is happy competing every season without any clear goals or determination to succeed. I do not believe Hagan is sole responsible for the performance last year. We have a club, which is mediocre, and do not have winning culture. What do you expect from the coach. It is like when you join a new company you come with ideas. Then when as the months goes by and you see your new company does not want to change, because the change can cause upset to certain individual So what you do, you tend to change yourself to suit your new company. Sometimes, I feel Hagan has blended to our club culture, excuses after excuses.

You sir are an idiot and know nothing about our great club.

Hagan was signed because the club and the clubs supporters wanted a change from Brian Smith that was not another Smith Clone. (Eg not Taylor, Sharp, Anderson, Flanagan or any of the others that have coached under him). Bellamy and Bennett were both under contract at the time.

That would be nice. I could certainly live with Rip as our coach for 2009 and Ando for 2010.
I reckon Rip would have made a decent coach for the top grade. I know that age and his ambitions probably dont go towards that goal.

MITS- you show the money and opportunity people will line up at your doorsteps. I hope you are not that naive to understand that coaches do not wait until their end of contract to look for clubs. Wayne Benette was going to leave Broncos after that scam and Bellamy stayed too long in the Melbourne. If you are a club boss and wants something, good for your club you would go all the way to get somebody like Bennett or Bellamy's stature in the club. You would be fool to not to suspect St George started negotiating talks with Bennette sometime back. It all comes down to how determine our management wants us to see us on top.

Bellamy is nothing just quietly... one trick pony. Once winning wrestle on the ground was finally consigned to history by good refereeing, he showed that he couldn't come up with plan B.

Indeed, and I think you would be a fool to think that Parramatta didn't start negotiations with Daniel Anderson some time during this winter.

sorry, but i think bellamy is a fantastic coach .... he has built a team of no names into a powerhouse - he never recruited "name players" he recruited players he thought had potential and gave them the mental toughness and chance to shine - and they have

yes the wrestling sh*ts me to tears, but melbourne are far more than that - they have had some of the worlds best league talent for the last few years, more than just wrestling talent .... they used wrestling to get a bigger advantage over teams - they can still win without it

to say they are nothing because they got hammered by manly last night is sooooooo short sighted - imagine the score manly might have put on other teams (like us ) ... melbourne have had a tough finals series, physically and mentally, and had little left in the tank - 2 of the toughest finals games against the warriors and brissy and losing one of their best players/playmakers/best defenders took its toll - they were spent and manly were on fire

(having said that - i don't like bellamy's win at all costs approach plus i think bellamy is the type of coach who burns players out cos of the intensity - i reckon he has a 5-7yr period of effectiveness with a group of players .... which any club would be happy to have)
