Because a team could sit below the salary cap most the year and then pay guest players for grand final appearances, or finals, or the run in to finals. It is a method to circumvent the purpose of the salary cap, the same as how back ended contracts and players signing contracts below their market value is.
Which guest players do you suspect will be signed? It can't be an existing NRL or ESL player. Are you expecting Israel Folau or SBW to be released from their union contracts?

There is a minimal chance of that exploitation occurring

Just to be clear because it hasn't been said 100000000 times already.

The June 30 deadline only applies to transfers within Rugby League.

Any club, even Parra, can sign NFL or Rugby 7s players whenever they want.
What also needs to be made clear is that this was not the rule until now. June 30 formerly applied to everyone. The NRL has relaxed the rule so that Hayne could be ensnared before he changes his mind again.

What path would that be? Leaving a basketcase westie club to win individual honours and premierships in both England and Australia and be widely regarded as the best centre in the game?
Best centre of the game? maybe 5 years ago.

There's no precedent for this ever being prevented, since no NFL or Rugby 7s players have ever signed for an NRL club in August.

This was the one i was hoping for, but i didnt think it would actually happen...

If he sticks around until retirement (i hope he does), Tits will get at least 5 years out of him.

This will be great for the Titans in attracting fans and good for Haynes reputation of he can get them at least close to the GF.

Yeh, my guess is that they offered to dipped into that discretion fund but only if he signed with the GC...

There is no warchest/discretion fund.

Never any luck for the Warriors, they have to bring in a superstar right before a vital game...
If I were a Warriors supporter I'd be hoping he plays. He can't possibly be match fit let alone part of a cohesive team unit...not that he's really a team player anyway.
