Honestly, who gives a flying f**k about Yanks and their N f**king L? Four hours of shit for twenty minutes action.

I'd much rather watch Ouroene and Wazn battle it out down the Straight Six at Flemington. At least it would take a little less than two hours.

A year without pay in the States is a better option than carrying the Eels next year...

I trust he is a free agent in 2016?

Good luck to him. He will get into a starting NFL team, but going from the Eels to an NFL team will be seriously difficult

Hayne is a fine athlete. His skillset has been refined to play rugby league. Had he been a yank he would have likely been a pretty handy NFL player. Its just the top NFL athletes are really really good. I'd like to see how Haynes numbers compare with other NFL players.

I remember he run somewhere in the ball park of 11.30 over 100m at some race a few years ago. Obviously over shorter distances is more important but the NFL have guys who have gone sub 11 over that distance.
Yeh, he ran 11.3 in the Gatorade bolt, I mean justin Gatlin, who's one of the fastest men of all time couldn't crack it when he was banned from athletics, there's a guy of the Bucs practice squad named Jeff demps who won Olympic silver with the US 4X100m relay time in London who runs a sub 10 seconds over 100m.
Speed isn't the be all and end all, it's how well he can pick up the intricacies that will determine his fate

he was running low 11s as a schoolboy, once you train for an 80 min game you lose a lot of pace, or stay constant.

i mean they U18 record in australia ias around 10.52seconds. Koroibete ran 10.75 at that age.

also, it was 11.2 a few years ago. he could probably crack 11 with proper training which would equate to a 4.5-4.6 40 yard dash. pretty respectable.

4.5-4.6 is respectable no doubt but it's really nothing special for his size, in fact 4.6 is slow for a wide receiver. There's a guy who plays for the bengals who's 6'9, 135kg and run 4.6 and still can't get snaps

Speed isnt everything. USA have a couple of wingers in their Rugby Sevens team who run low 10's but it's straight line speed. Hayne will succeed if he learns the game of American Football well.

Yep, every team has these guys. Momah was on the Eagles practise squad, couldn't even crack the roster. And he's 6'7, 110kg with a 4.4 flat 40 and insane vertical
Outrageous athletically, but it's all for nothing if you don't know how to play the game. Haynes problems will be two fold. First and foremost, he doesn't know the game. Secondly, athletically he's just another fish in the Ocean over there, here he is a freak, there he is just another good athlete who can't play football

His best bet would be trying to wind up on a practice squad on a successful team, a team that has a lot of depth and a creative playbook, might go well on screens.

but honestly I don't think he'll ever do anything that isnt ST he will be slooooowwww in pads and has no idea about the intricate parts of the game...who knows maybe he'll be a sensation

All these NFL fans saying he has to learn how to play the game, has to learn the plays etc - how do you experts know that he doesn't know the game? Maybe he's as big an expert as you guys. Or maybe, incredulous as it sounds, he knows more about the game than you do.

I think people have forgotten one thing here. Even if he fails to make a NFL roster he has succeeded, because he has given it a shot.

How many of us here have wanted to do something different in our lives and just never even tried.

I applaud him for trying and he is in my book a winner for doing so.

Knowing how to play the game is massively different than being on the field and playing the game.

He will be back playing for the eels on 2016.
