It makes fans who hate him sick, to fans who couldnt care less about agendas they were perfectly fine with zero weeks.
You can claim protected species til you are blue in the face and you might be right that he is, but zero weeks was the right call for that incident.
You can keep on sharpening the axe, but it doesnt matter, he got zero weeks for it.

Kinda made me laugh at all the over the top reactions on here.

Slater jumps in the air his eyes never left the ball Klemmer runs smack into his foot while billy is in the air. Billy at the point of contact was still in the air with the ball in hand.

You are acting as if he took a flying leap foot first with the intention to take off that blokes head.

Get a grip and take of the tin foil hats you dumb merkins. :sarcasm:

Bad ruling on the night that along with a couple other calls sour'd what was a really good contest. :?

Nice to see common sense prevail and Billy not charged. Sure he will be scrutinised going forward but he was rightly exonerated this time. Should have been let off for towelling Nightingale in 2008 as well.

The fact of the matter is his studs made contact with somebody's face, that's dangerous.
So his eyes were on the ball....I'm pretty sure Slater doesn't have tunnel vision.

Yeah Billy should be let off for everything. It’s not his fault there are so many “accidents” when he is around the ball.

He is a victim – poor Billy.

So are most high tackles and upending tackles that get referred, charged, graded etc.

If I hang my arm out and collect a bloke high, I can expect to get a week's holiday. Hang a spike-covered leg out and hit the same bloke in the same spot, no problem.

Absolutely positive that the only contact made was to klemmer chest and lower throat.

Rofl at you and the studs to his face.... Regardless if klemmer hadn't run in there with the intent to tackle billy mid air this would not have happened as it is the kid got up one second after the penalty was given without a mark to his face throat or chest.

Still can't get over the derpness goin on in here.

Slater not being charged doesn't mean that he didn't do anything wrong. It just means that the NRL don't wanna embarrass themselves by charging a bloke for something that he's been doing for years, unpunished.

Some blokes are saying it's an act of self-preservation. ROFL. Nope. It's an act of ensuring uncontested catches. I'd love to see an opponent jump for the ball in exactly the same fashion, from the opposite direction. Neither will get the ball, but the one with longer legs will win. That'll be great TV.

The average of stupid in this thread just went up......

It was plain as day billy jumped up leg was hyper extended to help with his balance (try it some time ) he diddnt even see anyone comming klemmer the dumb merkin runs in to tackle him and runs smack into his foot making contact.

Now the onus is on the player making the tackle to wait for the person catching the ball to land before making "any" kind of contact.

Billy's leg was hyper extended before klemmer got there billy did not lash out with the foot in any way he merely jumped and torqued his body With the leg hyper extended for balance.

Pretty simple to understand.

Good to see the panel saw what anyone with half a brain could see.

Did you even watch the incident slater leaps up klemmer runs into his foot unless slater is superman and can fly he diddnt jump at a angle with foward momentum he leaped straight up and torqued his body to the right slightly with his leg hyper extended for balance.

So yes Klemmer initiated contact with his foward momentum he was not at a stand still.

So yeah you a derp.

Lucky that Billy the Kid is such a genius, he has discovered a unique, seemingly counter-productive way to keep himself balanced. I feel sorry for all other players in the NRL, past or present who are too stupid to use this technique. Maybe he should give some lessons to Matt Duffie.

Why do you keep saying "hyper extended"? Hyper extension means beyond the normal range of motion. His leg was extended, not hyper extended.
