I thought all of this mysterious talk of Barba's past related to that photo of Ainslie Currie that was floating around a while ago? Anything else is news to me.

Would it ease the pain if you found out Barba will prob be on around 600k and you guys would be paying Cronulla a nice chunk of that till his original contract runs out?

Thank you, nice arrangement so daddy can now sign up his depressed son

MWAL ... did you actually watch any Broncos games this year. Barba was TERRIBLE.

When playing 5/8 was basically playing catch and pass. When playing fullback he hardly every caught.

I would have Boyd at fullback every day of the week before Barba (on last year's form).

Flanagan better get the fireworks ready for Barba's arse if there any improvement to be seen.

But seeing some good indications with Boyd's "recovery". He's making some positive steps, and I reckon returning "home" with Uncle Wayne will do him good.

Also, there's a trend in the game toward bigger fullbacks. Barba was monstered last year because defences were sent in numbers to tackle him and force him back, not to mention shortness being a handicap in taking bombs. I'd much rather a taller, bigger fullback like Boyd.

But I realise that Barba will be playing 5/8 for the Sharks, and you do need a replacement with a bit of X-factor for Carney.

We'll be paying nothing of his contact at the sharks. There is no way the club would be saying that they have enough money to complete for ANY player off contract end on 2015 if they are paying all this so called money for Kennedy, Hoffman, Hala and Barba to play at other clubs.

Doubt it. We got told the same thing for Kennedy and he has recently admitted he went for a small contract and could have gotten alot more elsewhere. Just because a club says a player can look elsewhere doesn't mean the club with be paying a huge chunk of their new contract. With Barba for example he had a choice, leave or play in the ISC. He'd still get his money, but if he doesn'tget back into the squad his next contract when he does leave will be crap. So it's a no brainer for Barba, if believing that the Broncos are paying a huge chunk of his contract makes you feel better, fine knock yourself out. If what fans believe is true 500 - 750k of our cap to other clubs.... very unbelievable.

NRL rules state that players must get their full contracts. If the Sharks (or Roosters in Kennedys case) don't meet what the players are paid by us, then we have to make up the difference.

Our options are not to release the players, but keep a massive amount of our cap, turning out in the ISC. And that presents other problems, by having members of our top 25 playing in ISC. Ie, problems witu our second teir cap.

The Eels had the same problem after Stuart told half the squad that they could leave, they were paying a big amount (reportedly over 500k) for players to play for other clubs.

Ah well, the Daily Tele article is from today so you can easily find that. The other is from ZeroTackle and refers to Brisbane paying Canterbury a compensation payment when the Dogs released Barba.
