Laurie Daley as coach is what went wrong, so much chopping and changing
Yes. He used Kennedy, Hammer and Cobbo at fullback. Swapped Trindall and Kelly. No wonder there was a lack of cohesion. Had three quarters of the spine from 1 club. Leave them in place and build around them.

Good hit out from the Sharks. Good stuff from Nicho and Trindall. Few opportunities for Kennedy. Ramien was his usual rocks and diamonds. Fifita tried but its hard seeing him now knowing what a beast he was at his peak. Nikora came into the game the longer it went. Royce didn't get much time but did make a poor error with a pushed offload.

Glorified trial in reality, but good signs for most part. Haynes looked confident and kicking was pretty much on point.
Kennedy was limited as Hunt.
Ramien all over the shop but still a bloody handful. Trindall looked pretty good in sparks and Fifita was just a side show.
For mine, I thought Nikora was pretty strong, but that’s on the back of me thinking he’s Probally a future dolphin.
Shame no one put a solid hit on Rapana - bloke carried on like a dead set flog - still getting over that 2016 semi final loss I assume

Yeah for me Rapana has taken over the biggest f**kwit mantle from BJ now he's moved on. No way he plays round 1 which is good for us. Even Dylan Walker appears to have pulled his head in a bit lately.

Hard to know what to take from that.
Fifita, god love him, is past it as a regular first grader. If he plays 10+ games we’re in trouble.
Tricky. Feels like more of the same. He’s confident in defence and it shows. He’s not confident in attack and it shows. It was pissing down and the indigies were soundly beaten in the forwards so hopefully it was that.
Nicho. Kicking game was better than I hoped. Not a running type of game that one, and happy with his defensive efforts. Gun
Hunt. Looks underdone because he is
Nikora. Really happy with Briton. Tough, good defence and carries.
Bubba. Chopped and changed, goodonya Loz. Sound
Ramien. As others have said, same rocks and diamonds. I’m on board though, still think he has it in him to go to the next level

Probably already been said:

Hynes - 8 - some great ball playing behind a weak pack and a terrible, terrible hooker.

Trindall - 6.5 - nice defence, but didn’t take control of the game (see above re: forwards)

Kennedy - 4 - not enough opportunity.

The rest - entirely predictable…

Loz is trash. Fitzy will do much better.

Found the same, Hynes seemed a class above (He's ours right? :p ) Trial match, hence the chopping and changing I suppose, should be played later in the year as the passion is there in spades, arrows, war cries etc. Good hit out for our blokes and no one got injured.

I will say it again. Did anyone else see Nicho limping at the end of the game cos I did.

Hunt will struggle to make the 17 in round 1
Finucane, uele, Williams, Rudolph all ahead of him as specialist front rowers. Maybe he makes the bench depending on if we want to carry 3 big boppers there. But I’m carrying 2 and a talakai type usually

I’m really edging towards 3 boppers and a Talakai type - no need for a utility on the bench with Tracey in centres and McInnes at 13. There’s enough versatility in the starting 13 to negate the need for a bench utility.
BHU, Williams and Talakai as your week on week staple benchies, and then a Fifita/Hunt/Pele type who can be used as a luxury 10 minute high impact cameo - could potentially be used as game/momentum changers. More value in that than a utility IMO.
