Rather this is our house tbh

The cut scenes of footy are good but the ones of her dancing are pointless! Show her once at the start and that's it.

Clearly the NRL is marketing it more towards women, you know the other half of the market that has been neglected for the last 25years.

There are 3 scenes with girls playing and shots of Mauboy to try and diversify our fanbase.

FMD this ad isn't for you - the person posting in the Rugby League forum. It won't affect you watching the game. This ad is about GROWING the game to a wider audience.

It seems like the only way to score tries is to kick or pass for the winger to dive in the corner. How many tackles were shown? I only noticed one.

For a song "something's got a hold on me", you'd think they would show a bit more tackling. Very few of the players had something holding them...

The marketing department figured that league fans who don't like the song will still be league fans, but non league fans who like the song 'may' become league fans.

Ah yes that's why it's so f**king dull.

The Weyman the one you referring to? Because he's got the ball.

No there is one from a warriors player against the cowboys at the 47 second mark. A shithouse one, but still a shoulder charge

It could be ok for appealing to a new audience. The video in the ad is a 6/10 imo, would be an 8 if it didn't cut to Mauboy so many times and maybe had fewer cuts and stuck longer with the action. The song is pure shit though.

My problem, apart from no Titans at all, is imagining having to listen to that at every match through stadium sound systems ... ho hum.

Jesus It's a hard add to watch. Almost had a seizure due to the cutting of epileptic proportions! I've seen far better editing and sampling from Rugby league Youtubers.

Not to my musical tastes but if I changed my opinion of league based on that, I be a fickle fan. Liked the transitions between fans and players. Better than players just falling over the line like in the RLWC commercial.

They have decided to take a different approach in order to grow the game into a different audience. We can't really begrudge them for that.

I don't like the song and I wouldn't expect many current league fans to like the song really to be honest. However are we going to stop supporting league because of it? Are we going to stop going to games?

I think it will achieve its purpose - people who currently struggle to follow league because they can't relate to its rough and tumble stigma - will slowly but surely grow an interest.

Showing yourself up there. The last two years every team had their own version of its our house. Reasonable to think they might do it again.

And I know this is hard for some of you to understand. But an ad SHOULDN'T appeal to us. You don't advertise to the people who are so devoted to your product they spend hours online writing about it on a forum. You advertise to new markets, fringe fans, mums, kids etc. I think it's a bloody great ad.

And again, some people have NFI hating the cut back scenes to mauboy and saying bring back Tina. Do yourself a favour and actually WATCH the Tina ads. Full of cutbacks to her dancing.

And finally the point of the ad shouldn't be to find 2-4 seconds for every team. The point was clearly about participation and making rugby league part of everyone's life. Not about a token titans try.

So in all the crap and garbage I've seen posted in the last few hours there were maybe 3 or 4 posts like this that actually made sense!!! Well said Saint Doc!!!

I would LOVE to see half of you arm chair critics to have to work in areas like this for a day and cop the dribble that appears on forums and the like.

Yes these ads are for the fans but they are also about advertising the game. You semi fan or non fan is not going to pay attention to this if it were on last month so this close to the season is where it belongs. Those same people are also not as close to the game and may not even be fans so this is a attempt at something new to pull them in.

as for shots of teams, there will be 3 ads (NSW, QLD & NZ) and I would say there will be team ones. Not to mention fans can create their own on nrl.com and the NRL will update the ad weekly with the latest footage.

In short I like it and applaud the NRL for their efforts!!!

Thanks 100%green

I was just coming on after reading on twitter what you've said.

There will be team specific highlight reels set to the music.

There will be region specific ads for NZ, Newcastle, SEQ, VIC.

Fans can make their own ad.

Highlights will be added throughout the year.

Great stuff

Did I complai. About the girls in there? I think the kids kicking and passing the ball looks great when it fades into an NRL player catching the ball. But showing the singer dancing is pointless! If they want to show dancing show cheerleaders from the clubs. I'm all for diversifying the crowd etc but I just think it looks silly her dancing then going into league footage.

But each to their own I guess

I guess you missed pretty much the most successful ad campaigns in the history of rugby league then?

Cuts to Tina work because she oozes charisma, energy and passion, cuts to Mauboy do not because she oozes nothing.
