Here are two possible scenarios after tomorrow's match:

1) Barca open up an 11-point lead on RM
2) Atletico Madrid go top

I'm a neutral here for the most part, so I would rather see AM go top...

Well Barca is the only team undefeated... but this is by far the greatest challenge so far this season. After visiting Camp Nou during (their) Summer, I can say without doubt that going to Catalonia and seeing first hand how tense this rivalry is... I'm sorry I cannot put it into words. It's unbelievable.

Anywho, I'm hoping for another classic match. The best El Clasico that I've witnessed was easily the 5-0 drubbing after Spain won the World Cup a couple of years ago.

In a few hours, we do it all again :D

BRING IT ON!!!

Here are a few interesting El Clásico 'Did you knows'...

  • FCB_-_REAL_MADRID_73_.v1349522661.JPG

Xavi Hernández in the 2010/11 Clásico, when Barça won 5-0. PHOTO ARCHIVE FCB.

- With the recent victory in the Spanish Super Cup, Madrid has now won 88 Clásicos to Barça’s 87. There have been 46 draws between the two sides.

- At the Camp Nou, in the Liga, the home team has won 47 times, the visitors 19 times and they’ve tied 18 times.

- Xavi Hernández is the FC Barcelona player that has featured in the most Clásicos. He’s played in 34 official matches against Real Madrid and he’s scored 5 goals against Los Blancos.

- Alex Song knows what it’s like to beat Real Madrid. He defeated Madrid while playing for Arsenal it in the 2005/06 edition Champions League in the quarter-finals (0-1). The 18-year-old came onto the pitch for Cesc in the dying minutes of the away game at the Bernabéu.

- Jordi Alba scored against Real Madrid in the 2011/12 Liga in Mestalla. Madrid won that game by 3 to 6.

- Since the 1964/65 season, Madrid has not defeated Barça consecutively in the Liga at the Camp Nou.

- Jose Mourinho has lost to FC Barcelona 10 times in his career, twice as much as any other team (he has lost to Liverpool five time).

- The 5-0 at the Camp Nou on November in of 2010 is the only time that a team led by Mourinho has lost by more than three goals (in official matches).

- Madrid, in the return leg of the Super Cup at the Bernabéu (2-1), is the only team that has defeated Tito Vilanova in an official match. Vilanova’s record in official matches stands at 9 victories from 10 games.

Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

- Leo Messi has played against Real Madrid 21 times, he’s won 11, tied 5 and lost 5. He’s scored 15 goals and assisted 10 in Barça’s 44 most recent goals against Madrid.

- Cristian Ronaldo has played against Barça 15 times. His record against the Blaugrana is three wins, four draws and eight defeats. The Portuguese player has scored 8 of his team’s 17 goals against Barça, he has no assists to date against the Catalans.

- With his 15 goals against Madrid, Leo Messi is the second highest scorer in the history of Clásicos, level with Raúl González. Only Alfredo Di Stéfano has scored more goals than Barça’s number 10 in Clásicos.

- Madrid is the team that’s conceded the second-most goals to Messi, Atlético Madrid are first with 18.
- Cristiano Ronaldo has scored in the last four Clásicos at the Camp Nou.

What table are you looking at? Atletico and Malaga are also both still undefeated. Of course, that will change tonight, unless they draw with each other....

Or did you mean they're the only team with a 100% record still? If so, then yes, that stat is true...

1-1 in El Clasico with Ronaldo and Messi the scorers. Hahaha standard. Two great players with an epic rivalry representing two great teams with an even bigger rivalry.

Make that 2-2 with two goals a piece to Ronaldo & Messi. Haven't been able to watch the match but can't wait to get online when I get to work and read the match report.

Finished 2-2 in the end, i thought Barcelona looked off the pace especially in the first half they were poor compared to how they usually are, Benzema should of scored twice in the opening 20 minutes.

Barcelona came more into the came at the end and were unlucky when Montoya's shot hit the post. That was probably the quietest i have seen Xavi play especially in the first half they pretty much shut him down and Barcelona couldn't get their passing game going.

Real Madrid looked dangerous on the break all match and Barcelona were sloppy in the first half. Messi and Ronaldo both played well as they always do Ozil was good and i thought Xabi Alonso played well also.

A fair result in the end but i think Real will be kicking themselves for not scoring more in the first 30 minutes when they were the better side comfortably.

Barca and Atletico could be equal top in the next few hours. And here's the real race that should go down to the final round too:

Messi: 10
Ronaldo: 10
Falcao: 9 (with 65 minutes in hand)

My apologies - yes that 100% record was what I meant. Well, that's down the wazoo now :(

This country is broke. 25% unemployment. It's on the brink of imploding.

I wonder what if any consequences that will have for Barca and Real. Those could lose their status as major world clubs. It's that bad in Spain. Both clubs continuing to spend big has a "partying while Rome burns" feel to it.

I'd personally like to see the balance of power shift away from Spain.

Not too disappointed with a draw considering we had no centrebacks. Xavi I think is starting to slow down, not sure if he's abit out of form or if it's age

There's no money in Argentina. Most American's are poor as well.

BunniesMan dickriding Lebron and the Heat while most American's are poor then jumping on Barca/Real is hilarious.

Lol @ the Anglophile coming in here and peddling mistruths. Spain's debt as a proportion of GDP is far less than the UK's but I don't see you saying the UK and PL are about to implode.

Worst case scenario, they'll sell out to the Yanks/Arabs/Russians like every PL club has already done.

I prefer to look at the current situation from a different angle - what if Catalunya gained independence from Spain as a result of the debt crisis? What would happen to Barca then? Would they stay in a new Catalan league or still play in another country's league like Swansea and Cardiff currently do?
