Cant comment on the game as I had to choose between this or the 4 nations but I thought Mertesacker was fouled in that goal. Should have cleared it earlier though.

Regarding Hazard, well if Madrid throw a mountain of money at him like they're capable of, they'll get him. But if he goes there he'd be a roleplayer for the timebeing like Nasri at City. If he went to us he'd a) make a bigger difference for us and b) we could help him turn into a superstar.

If we get either Gotze or Hazard, I'll be extremely happy.

Errr....did you miss the part where he wants to go to Real Madrid? Real could offer the same as Arsenal and he'd sign with Madrid.
He'd hardly be a role-player, he would likely start ahead of Di Maria.
Frankly I dont see the point in splurging on another winger though, and he would definitely get far more chances at Arsenal than at Madrid. Just to note we'd obviously play him as a winger and not an artacking midfielder.
This is one which I'd be happy if we didnt bother, and in hindsight I feel the same way about Aguero - not that Atletico would have sold him to us anyway. With the FFP coming in it makes no sense to buy Aguero and Hazard when we already have Ronaldo, Di Maria, Higuain, Callejon and Benzema. Especially if Neymar comes...
Hmmm....hopefully he goes to Arsenal, he'd be wasted at Madrid.

That's essentially what I said. If Madrid really want him they'll get him. But that he'd be wasted at Madrid and would make more of a difference with us.

Having said that, I'd actually prefer Gotze. But that implies a time would come where we'd have a choice. I'd happily take either.

Edit: We reportedly will be in talks with Dortmund after the CL game. Hopefully our interest in Gotze is genuine.

And we have money that keeps getting unspent. I really think in January or next summer Wenger WILL spend because it would be the only way to get RVP to extend. Hopefully it's to get one of those two.

RvP is only four goals away from equaling Shearer's most goals in a calendar year record. He's a shoe in to beat it.

Sagna, Diaby and Koscielny all earnt NT caps after moving to Arsenal - Koscielny alone was called up by Blanc after only a few months.

Nasri too wasn't a permanent fixture for the French until his move to Arsenal.

That's my point, I can't see Dortmund being anywhere near as desperate to keep hold of him as they would be for Gotze, there would probably be less competition as well.

Yes they've said they're not selling in January and yes we said we're not interested in buying anyone. Thats standard cliches at this point. I'm hoping we fork over the 20 or 30 million necessary. World class player.

And how good was Song today? Almost Viera-like. Song playing like that behind Wilshere and Gotze would be a world class midfield.

Song's best game in a long time. Which is a hard thing to say as I think he's had a decent season so far.

Apparently he had a bet with Santos that he'd either get an assist or a goal - wonder what the pot was?

25m pounds for Hazard would be a great deal - it wont happen for anything less than 30 though.

Considering that Torres was 50, and Carroll 35.

Meh.

Emirates will always be a library - it doesn't bother me. I'm more concerned with what the players are doing tbh.

Vermaelen got a double last night. Pity that one of them was for Fulham.
