Reagan Grace the young St Helens winger has looked fantastic so far. Being from Wales he has two options, play in meanigless games for Wales against other small nations or represent England on heritage/residency and play in a competitve team against Australia and New Zealand.

Great Britain fixes this problem as he can play for Wales and represent Great Britian. This means Wales don't lose him to Englanf and he still has an oppurtunity to play against the likes of Australia/New Zealand.

so lets have a team that supersedes wales, scotland and england just so a lad who's played half a dozen super league games does'nt miss out...

surely the aim should be to get wales to the point where they go on tours and play australia more often?? don't forget theres going to be a RLIF global event evry 2 years in future so the chances of playing a tier 1 team will become more frequent anyway..

Technically he can play for England and Wales because they are different "tiers". That's if he's eligible for England.

That is true but it brings up a scenario where he might end up playing against Wales. Great Britian gives players from Wales, Scotland and Ireland a reason to stay with them. That goes for players like Cunningham and Harris when they played for Wales and GB

that is actually nonsense..

back then wales, scotland and ireland really didn't play any meaningful games..no european cup,of any note,no 4nations to qualify for..no (future) fed cup to play for or world cup qualifiers...

Reagan Grace is just an example, if Wales or Scotland produce a really good talent under the current setup he would have to play for England if he wanted to play reguarly in big games against Australia and New Zealand. If there was Great Britian he could play for Wales and Great Britain meaning Wales don't miss out.

Australia, New Zealand and England aren't interested in playing Wales. In test matches since 2008 England have played Wales in test matches 4 times. 2 of those results were 80 to 12 and 74 to 0. In a perfect world Wales would tour Australia and NZ and play the big teams but at the moment its not realistic. Great Britian means when a guality player from Wales or Scotland comes along they can play in a team thats comeptive against Australia and NZ

Yet they still had the likes of Harris and Cunningham comit to them for important games such as the 2000 world cup where Wales were alot more competitve then they are now.

And that's precisely why they killed off GB, to force all players to play for England if they wanted to play major events like 4N and test series. Along with cutting all funding it was part of the rfl's plan to f**k up Wales and Scotland good and proper and replace GB with a poor imitation in a cheap white t-shirt that looks like it's a soccer knockoff from a dollar shop.

In RU, the British Lions are one of the biggest drawers in the sport, and one of the few things I take an interest in. They are special and have an aura. I don't see how an RL version is a bad thing, providing that Wales and Scotland aren't worse off as a result

you do realize that the RL version won't have any scots or welshmen in it don't you?

Tours are M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E! They're a throwback to the days when hardly any countries played the game, so the same ones had to play each other over and over again. They're also a sign of a minor international sport; major international sports do not have tours, they have continental championships, World Cups and Olympic tournaments instead.

RL fans need to forget about tours and support the game's progression into what major world sports like soccer, basketball and handball have.

Having Wales,Scotland,Ireland & 2nd string England playing at the same time as GB immediately relegates all those nations to being less important

GB is almost certainly happening. Noise is getting louder by the day.

At this point we're better off hoping they don't c**k up Wales Ireland Scotland in the meantime.

One article today seemed to suggest the the Euro 6N (featuring 2nd string England) would take place during the GB tour.
And that NZ will tour UK and Europe in 2018, also during the Euro Cup.

In addition to the other 3 second sting England sides? This is where the issue starts getting silly with regard to eligibility.
Who plays in this second string England side, are players going to turn it down in favour of getting a full cap with the other 3 nations?

Ahh maybe it's not so bad.

If they play an annual Euro Cup and tour GB it's a big improvement on now even if there are some obvious flaws.

Also,if they are run concurrently, at least there's a reason for a 2nd stringer England side, in that the top 20-25 are chosen for GB, rather than just sitting on the sidelines because the RFL considers them too good to play against Wales.

We are a Minor international sport. Rugby League is played at a high level in Australia, New Zealand and England with France, PNG and Wales also having a heavy presence. International Rugby League is growing but we are a long way away from being a major international sport.

To be honest there is nothing in Scotland to mess up anyway. There is barely any domestic activity. Wales national team has been on the decline since 2000 when they had the likes of Cunningham and Harris. If there was no Great Britain both of them would have played for England
