It seems Bretnals Corked thigh is worse than expected and is not healing as it should.
With th short gap between games Dr Needles says that he is a 75% chance to miss this weekends game v the Roosters.
The rest of the list trained stongly today and are eager to play what we belive to be the form team of the competition StGeorge-Illa.

Melbourne Storm has welcomed the extra week to prepare fror its all important top-of-the-table clash with the Dragons.

(SOBS) Bretnals Corked thigh is slowly getting better and there is no doubt that he would of missed the game if it was played thei weekend. We are hopeful he'll come up this week.
The rest of the squad are fit and rareing to go although we are searching for ways to improve the form of our halves who are the Storms only concern at this early start of the season.

The Medical Staff have asked to Storm selection committee to rest both Matt (Capt Courageous) Geyer and (SOBS) Brentnall from this week’s game as it is a long season in CRL and we need them for the long haul. CC Geyer had been doing it tough the past two weeks and we were severely reluctant to let him take the break that Dr Needles recommended. However for the Good of the storms rest of the year performance we have taken up that recommendation.
We have noted that in the tipping stakes the Storm are the most underrated team ever in CRLVII (well equal to bottom of the ladder certainties Cronulla) We are absolutely Riled by this and have made Absolutely every effort to come away with a win in both grades this weekend. The Storm have never yet layed down and rolled over. Especially when we are undefeated and on top of the ladder playing a team raked 5 places below us. Besides we at the Storm always enjoy playing against and winning against the Dragons.
This weekend sees again a raft of changes both forced and unforced. Nath 'My' Friend comes into the starting line up and will Captain the side officially and will be responsible for the forwards. Cam 'Gears' Smith will look after the backs.
With Geyer out 'GIJoe' Ingliss moves to his rightful position at FB paving the way For Ryan 'NotSo' Shortland to make his FG Debut in the centres. Ryan has really been carving them up in PL and of the FG bench and absolutely deserves the starting spot. Antonio 'AK47' Kaufusi moves in to the Starting Front Row.

This all means Poor Billy 'Cya" Slater cannot be reinstated in FG. With the Crisis that has befallen the playmakers Cya has been asked to Captain the PL side in a position that is not to unfamiliar at 5/8. We have put Aubusson in the Centres to help in that role and he an ‘Cya’ will interchange as they see fit. ‘I’mNotTheSteve’ Irwin slots nicely into FB and Feeny slots nicely into the hooker role we all know he is capable of. Dennis Scott will welcome the Game time in PL along with Je Smith and Crossman.

Anyway good luck to all these players this weekend and may the best prepared team win…… That’s the Storm
;-)

The Medical Staff have failed to clear Matt (CC) Geyer from his injury that hasn't healed as quickly as we'd like. To add to this B.(theBoss) Ross has had his CRL season cut short and Scott (OverThe) Hill has been unable to shake of a shoulder injury and is unavailable for this weeks match.

The Storm selection committee have been absolutely astounded at the injury rate of nearly all their playmakers. Only the ever-reliable Nathan Friend is free of any niggling injury.
Having lost CC and OverThe already, Cam Smith, Sobs Bretnal, Aubusson, Coops, (budding 5/8)Slater and even back up Hooker Feeny are really struggling with niggling injuries. This makes the replacement for the unfortunate Ross a most important one for the club.

Back to the game at hand.

Despite the Loss of Hill the starting side remains unchanged.
We welcome AK to the starting Front Row and are nursing Slater through the game as an impact player on the bench. We are also rewarding O'niel's great game in PL last week with a bench spot Specialist Bench player Anderson is also making his debut on the bench in FG. This is still a very competitive team and We expect a good showing at our Home Ground.

In PL the winning pairing of Sobs and Arubusson are back in the halves. G.Turner has been given the honour of Captaining this side and will pair well with ImNotTHESteve Irwin. Kaufman has made the Starting side for the first time and we wish him well.

All in All we hope the Bunnies enjoy the stay in Melbourne..... but not too much

The storm have come to terms with Willie Peters 7 7 Half/Hooker.

The deal has met with the approval of the CRL admin and he should be registered with the Storm and availible for selection for the round 5 match v Nth QLD.

I hope he's got one of those flexible tickets, because you may need to redirect his flight. We're not scheduled to play until round 15.

You're not alone. This week alone I'm resting nearly 50 points worth of my cap!
I noticed that most of the teams are facing significant form losses in that area. :|

Pre season I though it'd be my backs and back rowers that I'd have trouble with.

The Medical Staff are very happy with the way Matt (CC) Geyer and Scott (OverThe) Hill have responded to their treatment both are at 99%-100%. It is also great to see that Webster is over his niggling problems and we expect some great things from him this weekend. It is well known to anyone that hasn't got their head in th sand that Webby has the potential to be the best winger ever in the history of the storm and even NZ. It is very sad to see B.(theBoss) Ross have his CRL season End the way it has and we at the Storm intend to recruit him for next season subject to him recovering from the knee surgery by that time.

Last week it was our playmakers that were really struggling with injuries. Now with theBoss gone we have lost a couple of Props with short term injuries.
While taking the opportunities to rest Cya Slater (minor stress fractures in the feet) we have lost Capt (GT) Turner and Garret (Gross) Grossman. Poor GT did amazingly well as the on field leader last week and when he went down so did the Storm chances to win that game.

This week Gold Coat is visiting OP.

The First grade side welcomes back CC and OvertheHill to the starting side. Quinn returns to PL and Cya will be rested this week. It should be noted that CC has not played in a losing side as yet. CC regains the Captaincy. Friend will still lead the forwards so it really is a gain this week in leadership capability
AK did a great job last week so he moves to the back Row allowing Mason to move back to the starting Front Row Cronk is still being used to great effect as an impact player on the bench. Jeremy Smith makes his FG debut on the bench and we are sure he'll acquit himself very well. We expect a Comprehensive win at our Home Ground.

In PL we are expecting a better effort from of Sobs and Arubusson in the halves. D.Scott has been given the honour of Captaining this side. This has become a bit of a cursed role as all Captains other than Friend have spent time of injured after their Captaincy roles. Quinn returns to the PL side and will pair well with ImNotTHESteve Irwin. Willie Peters makes his debut for the great Storm club and has made the Starting side at Hooker for the first time. We all wish him well.

All in All we hope the Gold Coasters enjoy the stay in Melbourne..... Is it snowing outside????? :evil

Wille “Charlie” Mason has been stood down for discipline reasons until further notice.

Not only was he misbehaving (what’s new) he has spilled over the entire coaching staffs cuppa chinos and after dinner mints creating and embarrassing moment for all concerned and bring the club into disrepute.

Further action regarding this incident will be reviewed by the club admin and coaching staff.

A press statement regarding this action will be released when all actions have been considered.
