Morley's penalty

lol some of the pro-Morley things in this thread are ridiculous

Are there really people who think that you should be allowed to go around aiming your shoulder at opposing player's heads because "a shoulder charge isn't really a high tackle"?

I could argue that Sione Faumuina's tackle on Ryan Hoffman yesterday wasn't high either. He aimed for and connected with the chest, but clipped his chin on the way down. But the fact is it was loose and he hit him in the head. That can't be allowed.

Morley never raised his arms, Walker was leaning into the tackle and Morley was upright...of course there is going to be contact with the head, how can there not be FFS???

What happens if a shoulder charge's first point of contact is with the attackers shoulder and THEN his head whips forward and makes contact, as has happened a thousand times, will that invoke a charge??

What happens with an accidental knee to the head, as has happened a thousand times, will that invoke a charge??

I agree that no attacking the head, but FFS there has to be intent, a swinging arm to the head is intent, a raised elbow to the head is intent, but if they are going to charge each and every player that makes contact with an opposing players head, the judiciary with be open 24/7 and the Flegg boys will get a run in the NRL by round 6.

Chook.

Yo blue and white f**khead.

Morley plays a man's game. very hard but very fair....that tackle was better if not equal to anything your overpaid Sonny Bill Papworth has ever done. Do you see Sonny Boy copping life?

Dickhead.

Its a mans game, and we are surrounded by C^%ts. Lets just make em wear NFL helmets and pads now shall we.

Its obvious, the NRL dont want brutal defense winning the Premiership. The rule changes are ensuring Bradbury touch footy teams like last year win the comp.

Its no longer a mans game...its a mans game run by skirts.

PS. Warren Smith is a c^%t hole. He raved all game trying to ensure Morley would get suspended.

PPS. We own Souths.

couldnt have said it better myself.
the tackle was hard but legal.

time a few of you softcocks hardened up.

Eveyone is asking why wasnt he sent off. If you were the ref would you want to send off any of Ricky Stuarts boys and hear his whinging for the rest of the season.

idiot did you see last years game and the rabbitohs players spear tackle - no send off when it clearly was a spear tackle and the player should have been marched. souths benefited from that and what to complain now and lets not forget they still led 18 to 16 and if they depend on one player then they will finish last for sure and certain.

wake up and worry about your own rabble of a club and not stick you peninsular nose in other teams affairs

Melon, the man is a cheapshot merchant.

He will pay an appropriate penalty no matter how much sticky try's to villafy the judicary.

Say goodbye to Mr Cheapshot for atleast 6 weeks and hopefully around 10.

I know, lets make it if the player with the ball is touched by the opposition player he's deemed as being tackled and he has to stop and play the ball.

Remember girls, new rules say no slapping or poking!

Wreckless grade 2.

Wasn't looking where he was tackling resulting in clear contact between his shoulder and the head of an opponent. To me that is wreckless.

And how the referee, couldn't work out that Walker had been struck in the head when he was unconcious before he hit the ground, staggers me!

It turned the swing of the game, possibly a 12 point turn around.Refs do miss the odd plays, but thats why he has three mates. The touchies or the video ref,are the ones who need a rocket.
Its funny how the battlers, tend to get the really bad calls.Anyway Ricky and Nick will get a few QC's and maybe get James Packer to do a reference, and big bad Morley will get the usual one or two weeks

Do a bit of research and look up the gradings for even the worst reckless charges.

Unless the NRL decides to charge him with an intentional high tackle he simply cannot get more than 8 weeks. He is likely to get 3-4. This time last year he would get nothing, and it would have been the play of the day

Thats Reckless.

A case could be made that the ground contributed to the tackle. Remember Walker did his knee in that tackle (previous to the hit) and as his knee buckled he fell lower.
Morley will prob still get suspended, but should not be the 5-6-7 weeks some people are asking for.
I say 2 weeks.

I've looked at the footage over and over both in real time and slo-mo.

Was Walker falling - No
Did Morely contact his head - Yes
Was it accidental - No
Was this the turning point in the game - Yes
Should this have resulted in an immediate penalty - Yes (under new rule)
Should the referee have picked this up - Yes
Should the touch judges picked this up - Yes
Should the video ref notified the ref prior to the try being awarded - Yes
Should Morely be suspended - Yes (Under new rule)
Is Ricky Stuart a whining cat attempting to influence the media and NRL - Yes

Is this new rule stupid - Yes

Is this tackle worthy of a suspension - No, this is Rugby League

Will the inconsistent application of this new rule cause more critisism of the NRL referees than any perceived benefit to the game - Yes

Will there be 10 instances per round where this type of tackle results in no penalty - Yes

Due to the reduction of risk to the players under this new rule, will the RLPA be supporting a significant salary cap reduction as a result of the reduced need for tough players in the NRL - No

Should the RLPA push the NRL for mandatory Tu-Tu's as part of the new NRL ballet uniforms - Yes

He'll get two weeks though the loading he has sitting next to his name will see him back in about week 14 or 15.
