Out of curiosity, what $ value would be on the Paceway.

Depends on zoning, if recreational then far less than residential.

At the moment it's financial performance is disgraceful.

Any organisation with no debt that owns its premises that struggles to turn a profit with reverse ATMs is pathetically managed.

I’ve been a member of the Paceway for many, many years.

They are in a very tough market, the competition in the club industry, pubs, restaurants and bars is immense in Penrith.

They simply can’t attract patrons in the younger and middle age brackets and regardless of what they offer they never wii be able too.

I don’t profess to know what there current trading profit and loss shows one of my best mates who was a long time board member has retired and moved on, but I will ask him next time we catch up.

some years ago there was well known interest from a leading developer to acquire the site and build approximately 2300 or so apartments along with other facilities and commercial sites. I don’t think a formal DA was ever submitted but in any event it was widely rumoured no DA would be approved due to traffic flow issues.

Not sure what will transpire around the future of the Paceway or our proposed new stadium.

Accor is a soulless dump. Whichever moron approved the CoE to be built in Concord should be fired from a cannon into the sun. Pick an area ffs and stick with it.

They should of built it at Campbelltown.

If it had to be inner West. What Manly did and had it part of Leichardt surely is better than a 3rd base

It is just too old and run down. That takes money which they lack.

A brand new move would of been perfect

Might get commercial zoning at a push but it is unlikely

Didn't the Tiggers get government funding for their Centre of Excrement. The NRL and governments need to adopt the attitude of one stadium upgrade per club. pick your preferred stadium and go all in. Im sure the Dagrons got funding for BOTH of their stadiums what a joke.

They did pick an area, its where the western suburbs started, its their original home ground

25k is a great size in the end.

Obviously the paceway site would’ve been an amazing project, but in the end not really responsible of the government to spend $500-600m right now.

It’s going to be a $309m refurbishment in the end, not a complete knockdown. But for $309m we’re still going to end up with a very nice ground

for $309m I expect we’ll see at least one of the stands knocked down, maybe both. Refurbishment just means it won’t be a complete levelling of the whole facility. Ie. the hill will stay, hopefully they do something at the southern end. Maybe safe standing area

Penrith Stadium will likely undergo a major refurbishment but won’t be knocked down and re-built.

The Weekender can reveal Labor will deliver on its $309 million election commitment to the stadium, but that figure won’t be enough to cover a complete redevelopment.

Panthers are preparing for the refurbishment to take place in 2025 but will only be away from Penrith for one season with the plan to be back in time for kick-off in 2026.

The hills at both ends of the stadium would remain.

Fletcher believes it would cost around $450 million to knock down and completely re-build the stadium given the changing cost landscape.

Ahh the hills.

Ogling over spare change to do a stadium project properly but giving tax breaks to the ultra wealthy without hesistation. This evolution of neo liberalism will be praised as superior over the type the Libs have done in the past but ultimately it’s just a massive distraction all the same.

Pretty underwhelming if I'm being honest. Seems like a massive waste of money for very little benefit.

For the normal fans its less piss on the bathroom floor, quicker drinks, some more/better seating (If you use it).

That's nice though not sure its worth $300 million. I know a guy that could do it cheaper.

So is anything getting knock down? How can you improve it if nothing gets knockdown slightly? The amount of money spent over the years adding bits and pieces would have been better spent just re doing it again.
