Two Adults cost $40 in tickets alone for one game. SkySportsNow cost $40 a month for as many people as you can fit into a room. Are you really that stupid that you can't see why that argument is fallacious. Especially after a couple of years where going to the game was at first forbidden and then still considered risky. People get used to what is easiest. Watching a game live on TV is cheaper, warmer, and for most more enjoyable.

It`s definitely odd though, especially when you compare it to the other struggling code in this country, namely the A-League. The only two sports that haven`t received a post-covid bump in their crowds have been the A-League and super (lol) rugby. Even the Aussie basketball competition has been breaking its` own crowd figures post covid.
So the argument that people have got used to watching it at home in N.Z. rings a little hollow or certainly at least very odd.
If I had to posit a theory I might argue that yes people continue to stay at home and watch the game in healthy numbers, but the scepticism surrounding the legitimacy of that competition is meaning that this is failing to convert into people buying tickets and attending matches. Treading on thin ice I`d say.

If Aussie Rugby continues to be a basketcase it means that a new "super" comp happens. That super comp will STILL continue to get NZ viewers, because it's Rugby. Super Rugby is a means to an end. The end being developing players for the actual cash cow for NZR, the All Blacks.

I can tell you one thing for sure mate when the super tournament was cancelled due to covid I remember very clearly alarm bells going off in N.Z. because people were getting sick of the sight of the same teams playing each other over and over, and in all fairness that would be understandable.
And as you say, yes N.Z. is not Australia, yet neither is it an island metaphorically speaking, so if crowds haven`t bounced back post covid like every other major sporting code in the world you have to ask yourselves questions.
