Geez you are hard work. News ltd wanted the Melbourne market, it owned reds and could easily relocate them for that business strategy. They didn’t own the sharks. If it was flipped and reds were still independently owned and sharks were owned by news ltd then it could just as easily been the sharks closed down and the resources moved to Melbourne. How can you not understand this?
News lrd deemed Perth a financial basket case
Cronulla were allowed to count news ltd payments as a source of revenue

Yeh what conversations did you have with news ltd ?

if the board of directors at the reds had a clue they wouldn’t have been killed off

if super league interests you so much rather than making up bs read the book

So why did news ltd kill off Perth for Melbourne then since you were at the centre of things lmao

Perth were well established by then

Whilst the war was bad it was the peace that fcked the game for the next 25 years. They should never have acquiesced to news ltds demands on the location of clubs and stuck to their national vision for the game. we could have had perth, Adelaide and melbourne in the comp for the last 25 years.

In cutting perth the game destroyed the codes third biggest state, that is just stupidity on a grand scale.

all,we can hope is that at some point in the future the game gets itself back to those early 90’s days,
If we had Perth and Adelaide in the comp for the last 25 years.... we'd be broke .

Soooo...... NZ 2nd team setup in waikato? Sharing the FMG stadium? Is that a better idea than a 2nd NZ team side based in either Christchurch or Wellington

Right on Auckland’s doorstep and smaller population than Wellington & Christchurch. NZ4 or 5 maybe which will probably never happen. Probably behind those 2 & Auckland 2. A Wellington or Auckland 2 side might take a game or 2 there.

I wasnt at centre of things, I have talked to someone who was.

simple answer is because they could because they owned them in 1997. They saw melbourne as a more lucrative market and the quickest way to establish a club there was to relocate one, or in this case two of the three clubs they owned.
And they owned the reds so easy for them to relocate them. It’s not hard to understand!
