your argued re league over union is about false as well. League has always been bigger at club level and union at international level in australia. That’s hasn’t changed at all despite unions general failings in its administration.

can a second nz2 be sustainable and even succesful? Hell yes. Should the nrl have a strategy already in place for a nz2 admission at some point? hell yes.
Is nz ready for a second team now? highly debatable.
Will they be team 18? highly unlikely.
Will it be based in Auckland? It wouldn’t seem likely.

Btw I don’t think League is at all likely to supplant RU/All Blacks in NZ or fumbleball in Perth etc but it can be a popular and sound alternative to those sports.
