Nice point and food for thought ….

I agree that people get a bit carried away with the “dots on a map”…

I think Brisbane 3 will happen within 10 years …Maybe Team 19… They are the “safe “ expansion team option that you know will be pretty self sufficient from Day 1….and good for the SEQ TV market…so good to introduce a “fixed cost” when you cant offset the new team $$ with another game to sell ( similar to what they have done with the Dolphins…)

Where to base it though … would need to be in the west of Brisbane right?

Moving back to NZ2…. This won’t drive the TV markets … but their worth to the game is development … more options for NZ juniors to stay in their own country is required ….
I just don't think the existing QLD clubs and probably Storm too will support another team coming in. If it has to go through the Murdochs for approval are they going to want another team encroaching on the Broncos? Do they still have controlling interest?

Who did fox compete against when they offered the nrl more money

There is the option of FTA for more time slots … ( not all though)

Also Fox is out of business without NRL… but they still don’t pay its value ..

Sky would survive in NZ without NRL

After the year the wahs have had and the decline of super rugby I would make the same argument about nz

they are the biggest rugby club in nz now

they pay 34 million for one club

even if they get 10 millon more for nz 2 it almost covers their grant and leaves the arlc to sell the extra game to Aussie tv for 50 million

other than Brisbane no other bid has any real value for tv in their own right

The Storm can develop some juniors in Victoria… it’s been 25 years…

You might be right about Lachlan Murdoch protecting his patch…the Dolphins didnt slow them down this year though …

The NRL might want to leave the AFL with no where else to go in Brisbane…

Sky pay 34M for the entire NRL, not just the Warriors.

Don’t understand…

Can people see the Warriors for free or not?
Not every game no

but for the first time this year our game was given access in on free to air for select games

some warriors games
Origin and grand final and semis

warriors got 700k for one game

Sky also talk about being partners in the game and investing money to grow juniors in nz

“The enhanced agreement involves a new level of collaboration with both the ARLC and Sky NZ working closely alongside New Zealand Rugby League to co-invest in initiatives to grow rugby league.”

sky would love another team in nz

Nz2 pros
jnr development
Rivalry for warriors
possibly sky nz tv value
international player availability
stadium if based in Christchurch

nz2 cons
no bid
no value to Australian tv
no new tv time slot value
No obvious location
up until this year warriors have mostly been pants on and off the field
Man the " cons" are weak bordering on not even actually making sense lol.
Firstly they add a 9th game ( which is literally all any other team adds at this point) with the actually adding something to the tv market in nz.

No bid...isn't a case not not to have a bid lmao
Having multiple locations suitable for a bid isn't a con ! Lmao!
Up until this year... are we planning on putting a team into the past ?

Dumbest con list I've ever seen for anything ever!

Reality is if png weren’t getting so much money nz would’ve been next

no bid can rival what they offer not even close

in the space of a year we’ve gone from a medium sized sport to a mainstream sport and at club level arguably number one
