Or is LU just turned into crackpot central?
Yep, it’s like people still dont understand clubs only take games to other areas if they are paid to do so.I would suggest that moving the game from Wellington to Christchurch came down to money…
Well this deal certainly puts the challenge down to Christchurch - show up to these games, and your case for NZ 2 is strengthened. The Warriors went mainstream right across NZ this year and it's only sensible that they show their supporters outside of Auckland some love ( sorry Wellington) or are they trying to grow their support in the South Island? Pretty sure it's both but is it a mad scramble to gather as many fans as possible before a new team enters? And will playing in front of full stands in Christchurch make a new team from there a certainty?
Guess what, motherf**ker?
A BRL club is bigger after their first season in the NRL than your club has ever been in its 40 year history.
Everything you said about the Dolphins turned out to be bullshit.
Storm wouldn't be where they are today without News Ltd and the ARLC.
The only solution is 3 nz nrl teamsWell this deal certainly puts the challenge down to Christchurch - show up to these games, and your case for NZ 2 is strengthened.
I just hope someone (some club?) remembers that Greater Wellington is a big NZ market too, and we still manage to get games here somehow.. but it looks like the prospect of a flash new COVERED *rectangular* stadium is pretty damn hard to ignore - even if it's not complete & open until 2026.
Apart from Dunedin (pretty small market, much more a RU city) & Melbourne (Multipurpose indoor stadium, not dedicated rectangular ground), it's a type of venue that's very rare in Australasia.
Isn't any NZ2 just a brainfart of Australians thus far?Well this deal certainly puts the challenge down to Christchurch - show up to these games, and your case for NZ 2 is strengthened.

Makes sense.. after all, a new venue needs content. However the new stadium isn't due to open until 2026 (April 2026 I think).. so Christchurch games in years 1 and 2 are gonna be played at the current temporary stadiumDoesn't Christchurch have a new state of the art rectangular stadium, and Wellington only a shitbox oval?
Surely that's the logical explanation, not some vast conspiracy. Or is LU just turned into crackpot central?
OK, so maybe rather than "show up and your case for NZ2 is strengthened", it's more "your case for more NRL/Rep content (regular season club games, pre-season, tests..) is strengthened".Isn't any NZ2 just a brainfart of Australians thus far?
I think it's a bit tight to suddenly insist that Christchurch must have a big crowd.
Hahaha plenty of kiwis here seem to think I'd be a great idea .Isn't any NZ2 just a brainfart of Australians thus far?

The stadium here in Dunedin is awesome. I'm hoping that it's a South Island team with games out of Christchurch and a couple here.Well this deal certainly puts the challenge down to Christchurch - show up to these games, and your case for NZ 2 is strengthened.

I'd be happy with NZ2 and NZ3 getting the 19th and 20th licences. The only solution is 3 nz nrl teams
Well 5 teams work in Super Rugby..and the NRL is by far the better product! So...3 teams in NZ?
f**k me, you lot are stoner's
Long term, 3 NZ teams is not a bad goal.3 teams in NZ?

Christchurch is so far away from Auckland so it gives good separationLong term, 3 NZ teams is not a bad goal.
I'm not saying necessarily within the next 10 years, but inside the next 20? Yeah, that's certainly possible.
Let's get a SECOND team here within the next 10 years, then if that beds-in well, we can look to a 3rd.
To be honest with the log-jam of bids & prospective bids right now, getting one more NZ club is a battle, let alone aiming for two as part of the push to 20 teams.
Precisely.Well 5 teams work in Super Rugby..and the NRL is by far the better product! So...
3 would be max because the NRL is too big for Dunedin or Hamilton to have teams.
Christchurch and Wellington both could support teams although I'd be more in favour of the country split into 2 camps.
Two massive clubs.
This is PVL all over..
I said this would happen
warriors to play at home on Anzac Day whilst storm also retain their Anzac Day game now vs south Sydney
this is massive
I even said the storm should play souths instead
making it the game vs lowly rated titans is smart it’ll sell out now
