TBH, I'm disappointed with the change. This fixture had mana, we should have tried to push for a similar home game for us at some other time rather than just blow this one up. Warriors v Titans doesn't really have the same excitement.
That's my view, I'm not sure why we have to wreck something that was going great.

It's literally the only regular season event game not featuring a club from the NSW or QLD.

Why couldn't the Warriors push for another long weekend fixture?

The CEO who pushed for it is an idiot, always has been, he got lucky with Webster (he wanted to keep Brown and had to rush to find a coach when Brown quit) - everything good that happened this year was in spite of him.

Gold Coast wasn't a place during ww1 and ww2 - there was nobody there!
So having them play on a historically significant day is definitely the wrong pick.
Having said that, there's a good chance the Titans are on the up
and it's about creating an " event " status. If they get it right for the first one, grow a rivalry .. who knows..

The Warriors have insisted on this Anzac Day thing …. although i wonder if they thought they were going to share it with the Storm and alternate the home ground each year ?

I do think that whilst it wasn’t “fair” to always play it in Melbourne every year… it was their biggest game of the season … and I don’t think Souths will be the same … would have been good to keep it there in my opinion, and give NZ2 a permanent home Anzac Day game when they got in to develop a tradition …

The Warriors don’t need Anzac Day to get a big crowd …

Wahs would’ve picked the titans

it will sell out

nz not having a game on Anzac Day shows how the nrl treats nz as an afterthought

the fact that Aussie think that’s ok reflects on how insular they are

storm had the chance to share it and the selfish twats said no

I hope the wahs make this an annual event and brush the storm from now on

The fact that after almost 30 years and so much success the storm are relying upon warriors fans for their best crowds shows how much more work we have to do in Melbourne

wahs are selling out their stadium only with their fans and they have never won the nrl

such a shame the storms success was wasted on a side with not the biggest fanbase

The Storm took the initiative and created an event game, where there was none before. And a Aussie team playing a NZ team on ANZAC day was something unique for Melbourne that could never be matched by the AFL.

It will crash and burn with Souths, just as the Warriors home fixture will no doubt be nothing special crowd wise either.

For some reason in our game, whenever we create something great, we have to ruin it quickly, all in the name of self interest.

15 to 20k at Aami is going to be a great showcase for our "national" sport.
Yes it was good for Melbourne but Melbourne alone, forcing an unwilling partner into it wasn’t good for the game just to keep Melbourne happy

Looks like a new team in NZ will have the fire power to go after All Blacks...

You’d still only be getting the fringe ones unless they got massive cap exemptions. Players are better off financially cashing in on their AB status in France and Japan

They very well may be.

That doesn't mean it's still a good outcome for Rugby League.

Having a diminished game in Melbourne is a poor result ultimately, for all concerned
How is it a poor result for the Warriors?
Being forced to play one of the top teams away every year.
Not being able to celebrate a day of national significance at home
Having to play a late away game with usually short turn around
Being at the mercy of the storms wants.
This game was heavily stacked for the Storm and was self serving for Melbourne only. I’m stoked we stood up and said no more

The exemption is 1 million.. meaning they could be offering up to 2.5 million a season..
2.5 million a season to play in the greatest Rugby comp in the world..

$10 million 4 year deal buys more than fringe players..

I think it will hurt the ARU more than the AB. Probably designed to aswell
I think it could potentially hurt the NPC further..lots of young talent there!
Eventually that'll effect the Super Rugby and aultimatly the All blacks.
17 clubs
1 million each salary cap free for Union talent..

17 million dollar raid of Union talent by the best scouts in the Pacific...

This is going to hurt.

It's definitely trying to build depth for expansion

dragons bring most of the fans for their Anzac Day game but both clubs share it

storm are parasites bludging off other clubs fans and juniors

plus the person you are quoting doesn’t know what Anzac stands for

Players from NPC and similar competitions in the Union world would probably be the better value investment than chasing All-Blacks or Springboks, that and 7ms players. Wouldn’t surprise me to see a few clubs go after some of those players if the $1m is correct.
