I would say leave quitting your job until a few weeks before going. Try finding one up there in the meantime. Selling the apartment can be done while you are up there but it depends if you need the money from the sale before moving

I'd like some advice from you sage forum members.

I got engaged on Thursday, and my fiancee insists we should move to Queensland.

I've given it much thought, and I decided she's right - but I've no idea in which order to do things.

I don't really liley job, so that's easy.

I'm selling my apartment.

But what does one do first?

First of all, big congrats mate. No harm in putting your apartment on the market once its ready (i.e. little dicky things sorted out, clutter out)....you don't have to accept offers if they're not what you want, and if people are buying it as an investment property, they'll probably be ok with renting it back to you for a while.

Does your fiancee have a job lined up in Qld? Are you looking at Brisbane or somewhere on the coast or Thargominda?

Congrats mate.

Sell your apartment first as you can always rent. Search for a new job but keep your current one. If you don't have a timetable to work to it is better to take your time and find a new job without the pressure of landing something ASAP. Unfortunately the job market in QLD isn't as good as it used to be.

Thank you very much!

Yes, I've been on the Gold Coast this last week for her 30th, and I've fallen for the place.

I've had a look at property prices, as well as work, and it's all very doable.

I'm not enjoying my work here much, and Sydney property prices are crazy - Surfers and its surrounding suburbs are very affordable, and it boasts a very relaxed lifestyle.

But I'm not sure how to do it all.

My first thing is to sell my apartment.

Then I was thinking to maybe put all my possessions in storage, leave my job here, put some money aside from the sale of my apartment, and to move up there to start hunting for work. Once that's sorted, I can get a loan, and find a place.

But it's all pie in the sky stuff at the moment - I've never moved interstate like that, and I don't know the best process to follow.

So true...also One Nation heartland.
We'll see.

A few months ago I would have picked them to pick up a lot of seats at the next QLD election but they appear to have flatlined a little. All depends how vocal some of the extreme right in the Libs are allowed to be.

You could, but ya know. Banana benders don't have an affinity with those south of the border. I know I don't have any affinity with those north of the border.
I just pretend I am interested in the Broncos when I am having water cooler conversations. I draw the line at the f**king reds though.
