It's tough eh

Guess partly depends on how loyal they are to last year's winning team - Edwards in particular, who hasn't been his best, Crichton has to be there, but could end on the wing if they want Turbo and Mitchell... Pap is brilliant, but would they pick him at 14 ahead of Watson? Lomax and Best looking like being pretty unlucky... hard to leave out both of Turbo and Mitchell

Was listening to Gus, and he said Papenhuysen is either 1, or not in the side. Interestingly he also said the same about Trbojevic, and scoffed at Gallen who had named him on the wing

I think the thing that is going to be spoken about over and over and over will be Jake Trbojevic. From the interview I was listening to a couple of days ago with Daley, it sounded like Jake will be one of the first picked, as he said after talking to people involved last year that he is the glue that holds everything in that squad together and does all the things that people don’t notice

Just caught some of Matty and Cronk’s chat.. Matty had Jake starting at 13 with Yeo off the bench, Tom on the wing with a To’o/Lomax toss up on the other wing depending on who’s fittest, and no room for Pap. Reckons Edward’s starts at 1 and Watson at 14 to spell Robson.

Jake shouldn’t be in the side tbh, unless his captaincy is that important, but you’d expect with Yeo, Cleary and Crichton there you don’t have an issue.

Whoever they pick it’ll be a great side on paper

But do you reckon the DCE contract thing is dragging down the vibe around the club at the moment? Or were you feeling it before that all went down?

Back to the DCE question, sounds like there are plenty of players at the club that can’t wait to see the back of him listening to a few podcasts. Old Buzz said it was even suggested many of the players are hoping he carries on with Origin so they get rid of him for a few weeks, so obviously there is some effect there from his efforts

Yea I've read about the friction with the earlier era dudes like Choc but shit, had no idea about Tom and Jake... that's a surprise because it feels like it'd take a lot to really annoy Jake especially.

What triggered it? Hangover from the earlier contract saga, or something new?

Not sure exactly, but probably came back to the same sort of stuff as the previous era, where they are club and team first guys, and DCE is a DCE 1st guy. The club was an absolute mess at that point as well

Sounded like he had some division with all the Poly boys around the time of that rainbow jersey as well

The rainbow jersey episode I can get though, that would've been a minefield for anyone to manage. Even within the broader PI community itself there continues to be division on that issue.

He must have some serious pull with the owner to have lasted so long, and still be wanted, given some of that other history though.
