where is the list of the 100 items, that story mentions a handful

It's not supposed to be the 100 items that changed. It's the things that they want changed.

it is the players dont want to pay for it but want the nrl to pay for it. is this monopoly money?

No, the only example that would result in the NRL losing money is the international payments, and the players' issue is that the NRL want to take all of the revenue and the players pay all of the match payments. How is that fair?

i believe newton said in his triple m interview it was gps data but he also clearly said he would step aside if abdo did to get a deal done. it isnt about him he said

if it is medical data then the players 100% should have control of it

Jamie Buhrer talked about both medical and gps data.

Even if it's gps data, surely it's unreasonable to think the NRL should just be able to sell it and not notify the players?

You can't assume that everything that comes out of Vlandy and Abdos mouth is BS and everything that Newton says is the truth and nothing but the truth, I'm sure they both are twisting things.

The current leaders of the game have a pretty decent track record, in fact the game has never been in better shape. I might be a bit niave, but youd have to back that Abdo is negotiating this CBA on behalf of the games best interests.

In our leaders we trust lol

Why would anyone believe anything Abdo says when he had one of his employees illegally record private player conversations?

so who pays for the extra insurances etc?

if their list only about 5 things they cant agree on, surely they can make an agreement. newton has always stated the figured of 100 things they changed that we dont agree to. yes the nrl changed them but if they werent a problem they wouldnt mention them

why would the players have any rights or need to be notified about gps data. does your company tell you what they do with the gps data from your car? medical i agree with

so you have a meeting about what you want but one side cant take notes? is he meant to remember them all? whats the point of the meeting? and what were the players asking for that they didnt want recorded?

Well there was a big story before the world cup about the national bodies needing to insure their players, so the national bodies

if their list only about 5 things they cant agree on, surely they can make an agreement. newton has always stated the figured of 100 things they changed that we dont agree to. yes the nrl changed them but if they werent a problem they wouldnt mention them

Why should they have to concede if there is only 5 major things they want to sort out?

Also, I don't believe Newton has ever said that they don't agree with the 100 changes, just that 100 changes were made. This late in the process, 100 changes is a lot, so yeah it makes a lot of sense to mention it.

why would the players have any rights or need to be notified about gps data. does your company tell you what they do with the gps data from your car? medical i agree with

Why wouldn't they? It's their data.

so you have a meeting about what you want but one side cant take notes? is he meant to remember them all? whats the point of the meeting? and what were the players asking for that they didnt want recorded?

It wasn't a meeting. It was a private players function that Abdo was invited to speak at.

You could make the argument it was the NRL who got the sweet sweet deal during covid. The NRL delivered an interrupted season, games played with no fans ( unless you count cardboard cut outs ) and TV ratings through the floor.
Yeh only cost the game over $350million, cracking deal. For fox and ch9!

SYDNEY Roosters hooker Brandon Smith says there’s one fan reaction to the current RLPA media boycott which infuriates him.

Players are not speaking to the media on game day in protest at the delays in resolving the Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations with the NRL.

“The fans get turned against us by the media at the moment,” Smith said on the Jam And Cheese YouTube podcast.
I hate when the fans say the players are ungrateful, ‘the position you’re in, I’d do anything to be in your position’.

“I f**kin’ worked. I trained from seven years old til now, every day pretty much, to be where I am.

“Don’t you think I know how grateful I am? I f**kin’ delivered papers when I was seven years old, running down streets getting chased by my dad in a car.

“I busted my arse to be in this position. For you to say ‘I’d do anything to be in your position’ – you wouldn’t, because you’re not’.

“Everyone of us is here for a reason,” he added, referring to host James Graham in saying: “You know, you dedicated your life to this game.

“It hurts when you read comments like that and I guess I’m very passionate about that.

“This is my life. Rugby league is my life.”

Smith said media organisations had sided with the NRL because of their commercial relationships with head office.

“You’re not going to see Gorden Tallis fighting for the players when he’s getting paid by the mainstream media, are you?” he said.

For what purpose is anyone buying players GPS data?

That is tin foil hat stuff AND

did Toby Sexton's data go with him to the Dogs or is it the clubs property?

LOL, what an incredibly ignorant thing to say.

You have to hit the genetic and geographic jackpot before you can even start busting your arse to become a professional RL player. Then on top of that you need the means to be able to participate in the first place, especially at a high level in juniors, and on top of all that there's a huge element of luck in being given the opportunity to progress up the system to the point where you can even get yourself on an NRL club's radar, let alone progress further up the system.

We'd all be very wealthy men if we had a dollar for every kid with potential we've seen who missed out on the opportunity to prove himself because there simply wasn't any more room in a squad, especially considering how rife nepotism is in the sport.

Most people saying ‘I’d do anything to be in your position’ aren't really saying that they'd give anything to be an NRL player anyway, but rather that they'd give anything to get paid a living (a very good living in Cheese's case I might add) to do something they love. Unfortunately not all people's passions are as profitable as being a professional sportsman.

He should also keep in mind that these people he's talking about are the ones that ultimately pay his bills, and are the only thing standing between him being a millionaire sportsman and a labourer.

Look he has a point about the media, but his criticism of those fans is misplaced and it does nothing to help him with their stereotype of the oblivious celebrity whom doesn't realise how good they have it.

I think it’s about players wanting a share of the money the nrl might make selling such data

They‘re trying to do the “best thing” in their opinion. That’s a massive difference. The history of workers rights being destroyed is littered with such statements.
But nobody at the NRL is destroying workers rights - the way they’re carrying on, you’d think they were child workers being exploited.
The reality is that the proposed CBA offers the players the best salaries, working conditions (leave entitlement etc), terms and conditions (insurances/hardship funds/education etc etc) and collaboration/consultation agreements than have ever existed in the game, and all that WAAAAAY exceed terms and conditions in pretty much any other career out there. Yet here we are, with Newton claiming they’re being hard done to, when in reality, it’s all about him and a few senior players making a power grab, that is entirely for their own benefit.

Again though

1 isn't the data for the clubs to monitor how a player is tracking as opposed to the player owning it?

2- what purpose is it to sell?

It seems to be jumping at shadows

Shoe companies to design better boots ?

Obviously the players smell a buck in it and it wouldn’t surprise me vlandys and abdo would sell their mothers to make more money for the arlc

Players have shoe deals, part of that would be testing new products.

I don't they would, but what other sport in the world is the data valuable enough to buy?

I haven't seen any

Wouldn’t betting agencies pay for data to work out odds? The media might buy it as well to assist with their ‘expert analysis’ shit.

To buy data for 500 players?

I would think it cheaper and easier to just use stats which are more widely available. As opposed to x player runs x kms a game and so on
