A few guys competed with a storm side that looked about 10kg a man bigger than our guys.
The surprize packet was Carl Means, who was one of our best, and Cook matched it with them physically. Fairweather also took up the challenge - I was starting to think he was a 'looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane' player, but he ripped into them even though he was outmatched physically.
Most of our guys just weren't able to match the size and strength of Melbourne, but a few lifted against better opposition.

Finn must be injured.
Good to see Cordner there. Despite all the talk he played for CCC last week, and he wouldn't have rolled over like the rest of the team did last week.
I'd like to see Means rewarded with a starting spot. He is one of the few who stood up last week.

Manly haven't lost yet - but they can't be as good as Melbourne - can they????

NYC is up 24-22 after 67 mins, were ahead by a fair way and have had most of the possession until a comeback by Manly during this half. Still have had the most ball by far as well going by the tackle counts.

Looks like Cordner has been a bit of a beast off the bench, with 100m so far. Tetavano with 143 so far as well.

Edit: Make that 30-22 now, Ailaomai in, Pete converts.

Good on the boys 30-22 with 5 minutes to go.

They were paying $4 odd to win, glad I jumped on it now :)

Boys went very well.
The ref kept Manly in it with a million penalties against us, but we were far better than them.
Best forwards were Ailoami and Cordner - both smashed them - Cordner in both attack and defence.
Simpson had a couple of magical runs.
Means muscled up and deserves a start over Tetavano, who was disappointing i thought.
Young Redman deserves a big wrap. He has had 3 games as a hooker, is the youngest bloke in the side - three years younger than some of them - and i already think he is the natural leader of the side. He went off for about 30 minutes with a corked arm by the looks - and that's when they came back into the game - and when he went back out we put them away.

Manly were unbeaten, so i now think it's clear that we have a good side, but Melbourne last week were just about the best under 20s side I've ever seen play.

The thing that stood out to me in this game was how natural Alai Taufaao looked at half. He sprinted from one side of the ruck to the other all day, was in everything good that we did, and screamed and shouted at his outside men non-stop.

In honesty, he was much more dynamic than either of our FG halves :(

He has taken to it like a duck to water - as has Redman to the hooker role - and i beleive both have another 2 years of NYC as has Tyler Sullivan - and Roberts has another year - so we are right for halves for years to come.
Probably should also mention that Mitch Williams came into the side for Hunt in the centres and went pretty well.
If we forget about the Melbourne game, the team is really coming together well, with many of the new guys being unexpectedly good for us. Guys like Herman, Redman, Cordner, Taufaao were not on the radar a month ago, and they are outshining Tetevano, Mata'utia and Roberts at this stage - who were the guys we were thinking firstgrade about.

Nick Dwan must be injured, but I'm keen to see how Tua goes. He was very impressive in the trials.
Jake Finn seems out of favour, but he must be a better option than Rodney Mason you would think - although they will probably be our starting props next season.

Just looking at form - very hard to judge.
Penrith have lost two out of three, but both their losses have been against undefeated sides, and they did better against Melbourne than we did.
I think us being at home might be the difference.

20-4 to the Knights in the first half.
No other details being shown on nrl.com - just the score.
