Agreed, and I reckon it would be a good way to avoid any further issues.

Im on board!

Sounds good from a cheating point of view. It is absolutely awful from an innovation & medical standpoint.

Most of the drugs that the empire-builders carry on about are perfectly OK. It is the abuse of the drugs that is the problem, not the usage. But rather than a realistic approach we have the "ban-it-all" idiocy that prevails. And anyone who contavenes the idiotic rules is labeled a cheat.

The system is a crock of shite. A lot of the banned stuff is very useful for treating injuries. Guess who gets injured a lot as part of the job - professional athletes. Yet these are the very people we withhold the drugs from.

People have to stop supporting these bullshit *ADA organisations. They are not there for the benefit of sport or fans or anyone other than themselves. They have built quite an empire in a short time. All on the public tit. And for sfa benefit. Time to f**k them all off and start again.

Did the AFL chief play for Essendon?

What I am trying to work out is; if its a given if somebody is banned from an incident in 2011 and then plays for another team does that team he's playing with now lose the points?(for this year).

Some things appear to indicate that could be a possibility as well as the team getting banned.

Is that a NRL/AFL decision or is it out of their hands?

Always with Lance Armstrong. Who gives a f**k about him or the tour de landscape anyway.

Stick to what you know - name calling and blind support for the ALP.

Here's a job for you. Find stuff on the list that doesn't have a genuine medical use.

Of course they are, but not all valid medicine's, like steroids, are suitable for sports people to use.

By the way I thought you were talking about the as yet non existent white list.

How many years behind would a white-list be? Considering that the black-lists we pay so dearly for are a laughing stock?

And why are steroids not suitable for sports people? They are very effective at treating injury and aiding recovery. Things that sports people need more than the rest of us in their professional lives. It is not their fault that the pillocks who make the rules aren't smart enough to come up with someything better than "ban-it-all".

People still rolling out the Lance Armstrong comparisons???? Please. The level of PED use in cycling to win the Tour de France is just a teeny bit different to what ASADA may be looking at. Armstrong was giving shit loads of money to the body responsible for testing him. The body responsible for testing his samples was taking the shit loads of money he was giving them. Hmmm, wonder what was going on there?????

The 21 current NRL players to be interviewed by ASADA are not in the same "ball park" as the Tour de Farce and Lance Armstrong.

United front for players facing ASADA investigation

by: Stuart Honeysett
From: The Australian
April 10, 2013 12:00AM

THE 31 players at the centre of the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority investigation have been encouraged to join forces in a show of solidarity over the frustrating way the investigation is being handled.

A well-known player agent is understood to be leading the push for a united front but there have also been talks between the various legal representatives over whether some players would be better off being banded together to deal with any potential charges.

It has already been reported that lawyers are considering taking their case to the Supreme Court to determine what level of assistance players are required to provide under the NRL's rules. The game's integrity unit has already issued letters to the 31 players that ASADA wants to interview and they are expected to take place soon.

"We've got to protect the integrity of the people that are the assets of the game and the assets of all our businesses and if that means these people coming together to present a unified front, even better," a source said.

"This is unprecedented for Australian sport. There's a lot of smoke and mirrors in the media as to what the evidence may or may not look like and given that (ASADA is saying) 'we want to come and test you'. That testing in my eyes is extremely unfair.

"The way that these players have been put on notice in such a general way defies logic."

Under its code of conduct the NRL has the power to stand down any player who refuses to co-operate, but there is a growing sense of frustration over the way ASADA has handled things since the Australian Crime Commission announced in February that doping, organised crime and match-fixing were rife in sport.

Clouding the issue is that no player has returned a positive sample, with ASADA basing its inquiry on information obtained from the ACC's investigation coupled with any evidence that may be provided by officials or players from NRL clubs during interviews.

Sports scientist Stephen Dank and associate Darren Hibbert, who worked together at Cronulla and Manly during a time under scrutiny, have declined to talk to ASADA but are adamant they have never administered anything illegal to players.

"Clearly this is not a normal situation for the game or the players," a source said.

"There's a lot at stake in terms of the accusations. I'm not sure that anyone involved is sufficiently equipped to conduct the style of investigation they're trying to conduct. There's deficiencies at multiple levels.

"The cornerstone to the whole situation is that it's unprecedented because there's no positive swabs so we're dealing with something that is circumstantial in terms of whatever the evidence may look like and we don't even know what that is right now."

It is also believed there has been dialogue behind the scenes between the various legal representatives over whether they should join forces if players are found to have a case to answer.

Former ARL chairman Colin Love is believed to be advising a player and former Cronulla trainer Trent Elkin. The Sharks have engaged Richard Redman and Manly hired Tim Unsworth.

The players' union has also recruited Andrew Coleman as a consultant for all players.

It is believed the united front from the lawyers is not a defiant move but a means to simplify the process.

For example, if some players want to challenge an infraction notice they could be dealt with as one. Likewise, any players who wish to co-operate and provide evidence can reduce a ban by 75 per cent.

Cheers for all the media updates El Diablo.

"There's a lot at stake in terms of the accusations. I'm not sure that anyone involved is sufficiently equipped to conduct the style of investigation they're trying to conduct. There's deficiencies at multiple levels.

Another good example of this:
Kate Lundy spokesperson said of a politician critical of ASADA initially naming the Cowboys that he was "playing politics during a time when the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) was trying to clean up the code."

Pretty obvious she was playing politics the moment they had their "darkest day in sport" press conference and starting firing off names of clubs without producing any evidence or actions. This has a name: McCarthyism.

McCarthyism is the practice of making accusations of disloyalty, subversion, or treason without proper regard for evidence. It also means "the practice of making unfair allegations or using unfair investigative techniques, especially in order to restrict dissent or political criticism.

But hey at least now through Government incompetence they can now spin it to justify increasing their powers and increase spending our taxpayers money: corporate.olympics.com.au/news/parliament-to-debate-increased-asada-powers

More government incompetence begets more incompetence and more government. Cant wait to have kids so they can spend the rest of their lives paying off the interest for all this government spending!

See: townsvillebulletin.com.au/article/2013/03/15/377398_news.html for Kate Lundy spokesperson quote.

he's not going to punish them even if they do get done

My God that guys breath must smell like shit cause he sure talks a lot of bs.

The AFL is so calculating in minimising any damage to its brand, notice how he has this amazing ability to talk up the club under investigation, downplay any effects it has on the current state of their *cough competition *cough, while staying completely on board with the government investigation.

The Victorian media lap up there official AFL sanctioned discourse, the club sponsors are happy & the government is happy enough to keep printing them cheques.

Meanwhile on our side of the fence we have to deal with panic merchants and the News Ltd agendas of Rothfield & co who lick their lips at printing headlines about Equine drug use. I'm not sure what I think of Dank but I do hope he rips a massive hole in the Daily Telegraph's pocket.
