It would probably be the best way out but to go through an entire pre season with zero training is going to hit them hard

Its 1 Nov 2014, its hardly the entire pre-season.

(Note whether this article is to be believed is a different story, but they have been on the money lately)

If the bans on offer are that enticing then either ASADA thinks the players are the tip of the iceberg or the they don't want the players asking questions in my opinion

Or they have strong evidence to suggest the players were unknowingly duped.

So the deal we told you about is players will miss the rest of the season. Smacks of desperation from a mob who have fumbled from the start.

Danny hitched his wagon to Dank and can't go back now.

I love that Dank shouted via Weilder that NO PLAYER WOULD GET DONE FOR ANYTHING, and we now have a total of 34 players in AFL and NRL (past and present) being issued Show Causes.

The way the guy keeps defending Dank is disgraceful. He is the main reason these players are facing this shit.

As a Sharks fan of course i'd love to see a minimal disruption.

But I can't fathom how you can backdate a ban wherein a player was playing the entire time.

What happened to Martin Kennedy being issued an infraction notice?

He really should consider suing the telecrap for splashing that headline across the backpage last year.

A one year ban... where you only miss 3 games in a season where you're absolutely zero chance at making the finals anyway.

If the players are guilty and there's evidence that proves they are, they deserve to miss a hell of a lot more then 3 games. How is that even a punishment? They just start their holidays 3 weeks earlier then their teammates.

Not saying I believe they're guilty, but if they're handing out a punishment it should be to guilty players and the punishment on offer is an epic joke.

Or they have strong evidence to suggest the players were unknowingly duped.

Well that would fit into my first option because if they were indeed duped then the question becomes by who. That would make them the very tip of the iceberg.

Sharks ASADA case: the 17 players implicated in Cronulla’s doping scandal

BEN GLOVER AND TOM SANGSTER

AUGUST 20, 2014 4:30PM

SEVENTEEN players from Cronulla’s 2011 squad have been handed show cause notices by ASADA.

Just four of them — Paul Gallen, Wade Graham, Anthony Tupou, and Nathan Gardner — are current players with the Sharks.

So who are the rest of them, and where are they now? Here’s all 17 players implicated, and where they are now:

Paul Gallen

The captain of the Sharks and the most high profile player facing suspension.

At 33, Gallen’s career could end if he gets the maximum two year ban.

Wade Graham

The vice-captain of the Sharks and a player on the rise, Graham has been on the verge of an Origin call up for the last two seasons.

Would be a big blow to Cronulla if the 23-year-old is suspended.

Anthony Tupou

A former rep player and a back-row regular alongside Gallen and Graham.

A 29-year-old veteran, Tupou would struggle to return if he was out of the game for two years.

Nathan Gardner

Has barely played first grade for Cronulla this season, even though the club has been wracked by injuries.

A ban would hurt him far more than it would the Sharks.

John Morris

Is just a couple of weeks into retirement after injuring his neck this season. Has since taken up a coaching role with the Sharks.

It’s unclear whether a suspension would impact his coaching career.

Ben Pomeroy

The former Sharks stalwart is in his first season in the English Super League with French club Catalans after leaving Cronulla at the end of last season.

Any ban handed down would be served in the Super League.

Jayson Bakuya

Has played 14 matches for the New Zealand Warriors this year, after leaving the Sharks at the end of last season.

A suspension would be a blow to the finals contenders.

Jeremy Smith

A contracted player until the end of next season at the Knights, the 34-year-old’s career would almost certainly end if a ban took him out of 2015.

Kade Snowden

Like Smith, Snowden is a contracted player with the Knights until the end of next season.

Snowden is a regular starter for Newcastle, and at 27 years old a ban probably wouldn’t end his career.

Nathan Stapleton

After 17 tries in 61 games, including four in one game in round four this year, the 24-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by Cronulla midway through the season.

He was thrown a lifeline by Sydney Roosters but has not yet figured in first grade.

Albert Kelly

At just 24, the prodigiously talented Kelly still has plenty of footy ahead of him, making a reduced ban enticing.

Now at the Titans, he has battled injury this year and is currently stuck in Queensland Cup.

Luke Douglas

Also at the Titans, Douglas won’t be playing finals footy this year, which could make a 12-month backdated ban (to finish in November this year) enticing, if one has been offered to him.

Currently 28, the front row ironman wouldn’t have many years of footy left if handed a two-year ban.

Tim Smith

Now playing in the Super League for the Wakefield Wildcats.

Nudging 30, Smith’s top flight rugby league career could be over if handed a two-year ban.

Paul Aiton

Now at the Leeds Rhinos, the 29-year-old former Papua New Guinea skipper may also be forced into retirement with a two-year ban, or face playing well into his 30s.

Josh Cordoba

At 30, the London Broncos prop would almost certainly retire if handed a two-year ban. He previously retired from rugby league in 2012, before being lured to London.

Cordoba is currently locked in legal action with the Sharks over the 2011 supplement program.

Stewart Mills

The talented outside back is currently working as a carpenter and battling away with Helensburgh in the Illawarra local comp after sensationally quitting the Broncos mid-season.

He has expressed a desire to return to the NRL next year, and given he is the youngest player facing suspension at just 23, a 12-month backdated ban (to finish in November this year) could be attractive if one’s been offered.

But so could a life working the tools.

Issac Gordon

Retired from rugby league after being released by the Sharks in 2012.

Currently locked in legal action with Cronulla over the supplements program, which he claims left him with massive bruising and other health problems.

If ASADA has real evidences there is no way they will be offering these so called deals. This what will happen if the players fall for it

1. If the player admit then ASADA is going to use their words as the main evidence. 2 WADA will appeal the ASADA deals with the player and win. 3. player will get banned 2 years after WADA appeal. ASADA WINS and LOLZ

You'd assume the "3 game ban" offers wouldn't just be a case of admitting guilt but rather admit guilt and give us all the dirty details. They've got nothing IMO. They'll start with players no longer at the club (i.e. players that probably have less reservations selling the club out).
