two things thata are great tools that's not usually used.

1 Meat Thermometer
2 standard Oil thermometer

meat thermos for doing reverse sear steaks, chicket etc real helpful especially for slow cook.

the second one, you have to have a good thermometer if you are doing deep fry, because 9/10 folks were burn shit cos their oil is too hot. it also helps get your chicken wings as consistent as a chicken restaurant

The egg looks a bit McDonalds-ish lol, was it runny? Did you steam it in a normal steamer for vegies?

It was 2 eggs in a buttered ramekin and then steamed in my bamboo steamer.

Should have been runnier to be honest. They look Maccarish because they came out together and just cut them in half.

Next time will try to do them one at a time.

I like the experimenting aspect

I'm trying my first paella tonight.
I've seen it done a lot of times in Spain so hopefully the memory holds....
How I remember it in the first place is another question for another time, in a different thread

Here at Windy's House of Basic tonite is Corned Beef, Mash Tata, Carrots, Cabbage and Gravox White Sauce.

That means tomorrow will be Corned Beef and onion Fritters, Tusker beer and the footy.

My wife makes the best home made pizza. I am shit at cooking.

I would not even try to compete with Messers Quigs, Frenzy and BBB.

The best I can do is a very basic spaghetti bolognese. Also did a mean green chicken curry in my early days.

People say I married my missus because of her excellence in the kitchen. While not totally true, I am a lucky bugger.

Cooking schmooking. I've been too busy to cook. I've got me a democracy to defend.

9 hours at the coalface. Team Robbo, onwards and upwards.

Wearing me specially designed Hawkie memorial badges.

It came up alright. Tasted good but I couldn't get the proper rice today. The batch I left in the pan for tomorrow has turned out better, has more crust to it.

Edit: I just had another taste of tomorrow's.... 10 times better.
You try and learn.

Just your Sun rice medium.
I wanted to use Bomba rice ( that's what the real makers use in Spain) but I couldn't find any at my local supermarket today.

Edit: I kind of used Miguel's recipe. Added a bit of mine, changed a little. It works well.

I do this one a bit
Not a paella but sort of similar
Manus oven baked risotto
I swap the rosemary for basil and add black olives
Plenty of lemon.
It’s bloody beautiful and simple
