I don't hate anyone. When you hate you give them power over you.
Was very very disappointed in Jamie Lyon that is for sure, but Clubs are better off without blokes like him. Footy is a team game, and if their is friction, there won't be success.
Jamie Lyon moved on of his own decision. He should have told the truth when he left instead of saying he was 'homesick'. What a crock load of........
Re Timmmy..many of my posts are strirring really. I never rated the bloke at all, but that's just me.....Don't let me influence how you think about him.
If everyone thought the same it would be a pretty boring old place, wouldn't it. Has plenty of ability close to the line with his kicking and passing, but, in my opinion, is a passenger from 10 metres out ---- back to the tryline. Can tackle, won't run, and no enthusiasm plus has no variation in his play. Too predictable, bit gun shy , again in my opinion.
My opinion is just that, MY opinion. Whether it is right or wrong is not up to me to judge.

Thks Pete, no you won't influence me.

I see it differently.

We don't have anyone of his ability close to the line not even Hayne. And is what I think is our missing link. Repeat 6, accurate bombs to the winger, devastating short kicking game.

We have Mortz, Hayne, Feleti, Tahu, INU, Grothe, Burt, Reddy. All mainly ball runners. So why would you need a running half?

I praise Robbo not because of his running but because he gets the ball to the right people. Sterlo did that too although Sterlo did run a bit more but he wasn't a great ball runner.

The tackling I agree with but gun shyness, well I recall he did try but he just had a poor technique. He wasn't grabbing or not trying to defend, I recall he tried going in body and all but with Poor technique and physically not tough, he did not succeed. But as mentioned before, lots of halves have that problem today.

I just think under the current coaching staff, he could've benefited. A bit like Grothe's defense and the way it was devised for Reddy to wrap around.

OUt of the two, I was more disappointed with JUDAS and how that was handled.

Anyway, looking forwards, I just hope Johns spends alot of time with Robbo, Mortz, KK on their kicking games. You can't really teach a player to kick well. It is natural.

Do you think it was co-incidental that Hindy was able to have more influence in his attack this season when he had a half back doing twenty or thirty tackles a game?

Yes, because Hindy was still doing 40+ tackles a game. Hindy did more in attack because he tried to do more in attack

No. I think the other forwards stepped up including Lowrie, JoeyG, Benny Smith, et al.

I doubt the no. of hitups increased as compared to the past but he was allowed the freedom to pass and offload whereas Hages' strategy was different. Very similar to Caylo as well.

I actually think the opportunities were created because they weren't running one out getting smashed by 3 and 4 defenders.

Opportunity ... Smith wants back in the NRL. Mark Evans

Brisbane Broncos a step closer to snaring wayward star Tim Smith

By Karl deKroo
October 13, 2009
Troubled playmaker Tim Smith is a step closer to relaunching his NRL career with Brisbane Broncos after Queensland Cup affiliate side Easts Tigers nominated the former Parramatta halfback to complete the pre-season with Brisbane's elite squad.
Smith left the Eels mid-season last year after a string of alcohol-related off-field incidents and revelations he was battling bipolar disorder.

After taking some time out with his family on the Gold Coast, Smith took up a deal to join the Wigan Warriors in the English Super League.

He played 12 games for the Warriors at five-eighth this year before a shoulder injury ended his campaign and he returned to Australia.

While the Broncos played no direct role in his recruitment, under their affiliate arrangement with Easts, they invited the Tigers to put forward a player to undertake the pre-season with the NRL squad. Smith has been the player nominated for this summer.

It was through the same link that winger Antonio Winterstein was elevated to the full-time squad after he was signed by Easts from Sydney Roosters. He went on to play every game for the Broncos this year.

While Peter Wallace is Brisbane's first-choice halfback and under-20s No. 7 Ben Hunt is considered a player of the future, the lack of another halfback option on the roster was exposed when Wallace was injured before the preliminary final loss to Melbourne Storm last month and veteran Tonie Carroll was pushed to the halves.

Define LONG TIME
pete you have become so obvious with your hatred of smith. why dont you just let it go.?anytime this thread comes back up your back onto him with your anti smith crap...everyone knows what you think already and cos you are an ex journalist i am sure everyone loves your opinion and vendetta against a young bloke trying to get his act together. You need to wake up to yourself.
As was mentioned in this thread earlier by Bartman he had a great rookie season,on which you agreed, well the team fell to sh*t in 06..but in 07 he was right amongst the best halves in the comp and led parra to the prelim final, and i might add during that final series he was very influential in reguards to how far we went.
I can not take you seriously when, since the beginning of this season you rate Robson over him as a half. It really is time to just let your stirring sh*t go,or dont you have anything else interesting happening in your life? maybe you should just go see if your missus is still interested in making out? If you buy some viagra i am sure you will get over your T Smith fetish and your missus might even be happy.
Your judgement on that young bloke is so way off course its become laughable. That or you really are not capable of actually judging talent. God help mortimer when he has an off month.

 too easy. Tim had an off month???? What planet have you been on...

Mate, if this opinion was from someone I respected, I could take notice. But it is not, and therefore I won't.
BTW ...Throw away line....Timmmmmmmy choked big time in 2005 and 2007 final series.
Just as a matter of interest, how's your wrist getting on these days?
My missus is ALWAYS happy..why wouldn't she be when she has a big cuddly bloke like me to snuggle up to!!!. BUT , I'll tell her your message...
And Viagra is good but prefer Cialis myself...
They give Viagra to old blokes in nursing homes to stop them falling out of bed at night....

Leave pete alone. So he doesn't rate Tim Smith. So what? He's not alone.

Besides, where were all the defenders of the enfeebled when people continually gave Luke Burt, Jeff Robson, Todd Lowrie or Ben Smith a hard time?

Tim Smith is not an Eel any more. Let us hope he recovers from whatever disorder it is he has (whether it is simply alcoholism or whether there is a more serious underlying issue there) and gets on with his life for his sake, and let us all agree to disagree on the matter. Parra pete's opinion is no less valid than all you fine people who really like Tim Smith. It's simply an opinion.

Peace.

Sorry ele but it's very annoying seeing Tim Smith threads almost 2 years after he left us. Were are all the John Morris, Paul Stringer, Glenn Morrison threads? it's really f**king annoying to come on here in the off season in 2009 and people bitching about Tim Smith, so f**king what if someone doesn't rate him? does it make people feel good about themselves constantly digging up Tim Smith threads? Tim was a great player for us, he led us well - and was our best half in 20 years.

Tim provided great service whilst with us, more so then any half in the past 20 years ( yes, he was our best half in 20 years - facts! ) he has had some personal issues, which some find amusing to poke sh*t at ( hopefully they get some sh*t comming their way in their lives so we can make threads and joke and laugh about it, and i will be the first one, couldn't give a sh*t ), he has been injured, and tbh he seems to lost his way, it happens with many people his age.

I find it ironic that some on this board defend players commting acts such as belting girls, taking drugs and getting caught, drink driving, Tim never had 1 incident of a criminal offense, he was a brillant player for us.

Will Tim recover? who knows, he has his demons to struggle with.

Yes myself, i'm always up for a giggle and a laugh at a Hagan, Cayless etc, but this is beyond the joke, 2 years has gone past and threads are continuley been brought up for no reason relevent to us.

He's gone, forget about it, and just remember the good times he provided for us.He loved Parramatta - and people like that are always welcome to me regardless if they're sh*t or not - i may give sh*t to Burt and Cayless now and then, but at the end of the day, away from the gags they love the place, and believe it or not when they leave it will be a sad day for us as their best moments far out way their bad moments!

That.

And yes whilst Todd Lowrie, Ben Smith ( myself included poked sh*t at) it was much deserved, they were tripe for a long time and deserved every bit of it considering their ROI. However, i have always been one to applaud when those i critisise stand up, Tim never lapsed into such a period of mediocrity as those two did, sorry, but apart from 6 or 7 games in the past 2 and a half years both players were pathetic on a Ben Shizloswki scale - facts.

It makes you think that with a coach like DA transforming both those players could've done to a Tim Smith.

Never underestimate the loss of Brian Smith to Tim Smith, no coincidence that once Brian left so did the form of many players including Ben Smith.

Tim has the talent, always has, he has proven it, however mentally he has obvious demons which i believe will go later on into his life - some peopel will never know the true extent.

Mate, I agree with you 100%. I was just trying to keep the peace haha.

But I agree - 100%.

Again, hard to argue.
